Meh, we could have gone the more conservative route and played guys like Simkin and Crowley but we rolled the dice on a kids and it didn't pay this week.
I can live with this.
But if Long doesn’t get a game soon I will go troppo!
Our forward is as putrid as last year. And the year before that. And the year before. And…
We may have been crap defensively under Knights, but at least we could score.
Will a coaching panel ever be able to fix our fwd line woes…
IN: Supporters who understand that 12 of our best 22 are missing in 2016

So essentially what you’re telling the blokes who are on our list next year is
If we don’t have our best team out on the park, you don’t have to turn up to play.
maybe you would be best to remember we copped plently of similar beltings like today over the last 5 odd years and it has SFA to do with “12” players missing, and all to do with EFFORT.
Effort and a loss brings the reaction around here of last week.
a loss with pretty much 0 effort brings about a reaction of today.
If you’re going to hide behind the " oh there’s 12 out, anything they do is acceptable" line, we may as well pack up the season now and just forfeit every match, cos the 12 players aren’t magically gonna be returning anytime soon, and if you’re willing to accept lack of efforts like today, then you’re only condemning the club to lowering the standard of what is and should be acceptable.
Effort should always be a non negotioable, not something you pull out ONLY when you have your best team on the park.
Well that was a tough day. Not sure what went wrong but it was like we were fatigued from the opening bounce and mentally way off. They interviewed Jamar before the game and he was saying how excited the group was on playing as so many had never played. Mick Malthouse made an interesting comment and said I wonder if the 9 day break and build up worked against Essendon as he has learnt it can mentally drain you by the time the day comes if inexperienced.
I think it took us all by suprise how reactive and flat footed we were in the first half…no one saw that coming. Pies were under the hammer all week and they were jumping out of their skin and hitting every target…it was game over really 20 mins in the first Qtr.
It’s a harsh learning curve and we know there will be games like this. Credit to us in having some pride and winning the second half.
There were few positives but Fantasia just keeps on growing into a great player. I thought Parish had a slight off day but as far as effort probably in the top 3…just wanted to keep trying and put his body in…great sign from the kid. Leuenberger was good and picking up 20 possessions is pleasing. Kelly and Zaka battled well. Hartley is a real find and Tippa will only keep getting better.
Lots of development still to do especially the Midfield ball movement into the forwards. I know Daniher cops some flack but the delivery into him simply has to get better or we need to spread our forwards better to help him be one on one at least. Won’t be long till they give Redman a try to help provide another target.
Collingwood played above themselves and we played below our best which made for an ugly game(first half mainly). I still think our best can beat Carlton and I won’'t be suprised we take it right up to them and compete and a much better level…similar to Demons after Gold Coast loss.
Stick with the boys
Only interesting point of the day was seeing a lady from the bombers pjayma party almost getting into a catfight with a lady from the grog squad in the 3rd qtr
Another big crowd, big stage and we failed badly. Again
Game was done and dusted 25min into the first qtr. you could tell within 5min they weren’t switched on
Dempsey- once again comes back into the team and plays poorly- that is now 3 anzac day games in a row he has done that, his first qtr was disgusting, he made so many schoolboy defending errors.
Our midfield- our stoppage work in the middle, kicking to forwards, not running back to help out.
Mckenna needs to go back to the vfl, is he nowhere near AFL ready yet.
Zaka is going to have to learn how to deal with a hard tag, tried his best though
Goddard- the end is coming very very quickly for him
Kelly had his worst game for the club, ditto loony
There was zero intensity to our game today
Gleeson- he tries hard, but the way he is rag dolled in tackles and pushed aside when he tires to tackle is a joke. Hasn’t got any size on him whatsoever, so when defending one on one he is just pushed aside with ease
Joe daniher- squibbed badly in the pocket early in the 2nd qtr. has to start working harder off the ball. I would have no problem at all if they dropped him for smack- needs a kick up the backside

I am 100% certain you didn’t watch the game
I was at the game, and stayed until the final siren.
Our forward line looked better in the second half when JD went to CHF and got told to lead up to the wings.. and we actually (unbelievably) started to look for other targets up forward. This meant that Reid had to drop back to cover the D50 and left JD (finally) 1-1 with Frost.. and from there he was able to actually take a few grabs and get a little bit more involved.
If you wanted to freeze frame every contest JD was involved in during the first half… I would suggest that very few will feature less than 3 defenders to a lone JD hand (the other, of course, is being held).
My biggest gripe with JD is the continual leading to the pocket… but it is just so consistent that you have to wonder whether that is under coaches instruction?! Got so predictable that Pie midfielders were flooding back to that section even before the ball was directed there!
Hurley did the exact same thing and its ■■■■■■ infuriating. What’s even worse is when he engages in a wrestling contest in the pocket instead of leading at the ball. Even if he has good body position the kick inevitably gets chopped off by the 3 defenders that come over the top for the spoil and its in a crap position anyway.
You’re tall, quick and a big leaper. Play to your strengths Joe!

Stick with the boys
I don't think anyone that cares enough to come on this forum to discuss EFC would do anything but 'stick with the boys' no matter what crap they dish out! No matter whether you agree with an opinion or not, every genuine poster on this board cares about this team and wants success.
To add to the sentiment of sticking fat… even a poster who may appear negative still wants the best for this club and we also need to stick with each other to get through this sometimes/mostly terrible season.
