Match Review vs Hawks Round 1

Didnt Mass play well. Any chance he can be another ssp?

Feel that we got a lot of confidence in the third quarter when Perkins when absolutely ham. I feel we are still reliant on individual brilliance to spur us on, as the first half was lethargic as ■■■■

A win will paper over some cracks but that is a side going nowhere in a hurry.

Them kicking goals would’ve helped us?

That is the hottest of takes.

I thought hawks were going to run all over hs after half time, but we stuck at it and ran the game out well.

Great to see tsatas get some big moments in, he was a real positive. Perkins was great too. Enjoyed McKay’s first game and hopefully reid was taken off as a precaution

We missed ridley down back, but good to see cox battle hard

Mcgrath… gee some horror moments that really take the shine off a big day

Disappointed with duursma and jones

Take the win but definitely not our best

I remember listening to triple M in the line in the sand game, with Dermie and Dunstall banging on about how good it was that the Hawks started the fight and listening to how good they were that day. Made me very angry.

My two boys did well, Perky and Duzza. Would like to see Duzza get a bit more possessions in outside play where he can use his marking

He sure did. They should look at that…but they won’t of course.

Yep.

I detest Hawthorn.

The play in the last quarter where he came off the bench calling for a handball was so frustrating. It was obvious he was going nowhere. Immediately turned the ball over and it went back inside their 50. The vice captain needs better footy smarts than that.

First game of the season with heaps of fumbling and shanked kicks, but still managed to get out of it with a way - that’s a WIN. Te value of winning can’t be discounted as you need it to build a successful side.

And given how the game was, for the most part, an arm wrestle, it should give the coaches and players some good data to see what we are still poor at (and we’re good at).

For me, stopping opposition ball movement out of our forward line to theirs remains a major problem for us. And we need to work/run harder to stop the opposition getting the loose man in transition and in their forward line.

I think we’re still short of a real tough-nut in the midfield. Guelfi does a good job but we need to find another.

I agree with the need but I can’t remember the last time Guelfi played anything close to a midfield role.

Was great in the forward line though
