Match Review

under 12’s have endevour and any other word you want to describe it, but you wouldn’t put them out on the park for an afl game, it’s essentially what we are doing.

skill and decision making are absolutely putrid.
Gleeson could be anything and i rate the kid, but geez he couldn’t hit water with a disposal at the moment if he was sitting in the middle of the ocean.
Hibberd is shot and in a similar boat.
but you can’t hang them out to dry cos everyone is making stupid mistakes. Hurleys kicking is hit,z Merrett was horrible today, cooney and goddard have lost any talent they had.

i’ve never seen a funk hit so many skilled players as much as this one has.

Can’t tackle to save their lives, they would all struggle atm to tackle an armless and legless opponent.
and we’ve got two forwards who can’t kick a set shot.
and slow across the board. speed may not be the key to ball movement, but it sure as hell kills you when the opposition have the ball

whatever it is (most likely the players have just finally been defeated by all the saga bullshit) it’s finally broken them cos pretty much to a tee, everyone one of our players could be outdone at present with skill by 12 year olds.

all that being said was actually not a bad end result. I was expecting a 15 goal loss before the game, was expecting a 10 goal loss during it after half time, so despite everything that’s going against us at present, to only lose by 40 odd points is pretty damn good.

Just what do you do ?

All emotion aside: we were much better today. The boys had a dig. Hawthorn are just a much better team than us and when they lifted the tempo in the third, we fell away.
Our forwards are shocking. Joey & Buckets have zero confidence in their set shots. It’s awful to see and it must be deleting for the rest of the team. The potential is there but the execution is not… at the moment.
Zerrett is fast becoming one of our most important players. No second year blues here. The bloke finds a lot of the footy and applies great pressure.
Smack really did a great job today. It was tough going rucking the whole day but his presence made an impact. He will need help as the season goes on.

No hope of finals (this was known before today) but at least we get a chance to try players who might have struggled to get an opportunity recently.

If today was our line in the sand game, we’ve stepped over it and headed toward bottom four. And perhaps we need to get some good draft picks. And we don’t have to tank but just maybe the f’ing AFL will fine us for that as well.

So Goodard has regressed since crossing over?

That’s not a desirable outcome.

Godard was superb today.

Commentators were loving it. Dwayne russels the biggest flog. “Bending it back, snap around the body” is pretty much all he says for the 2 hours

Dempsey looked ok forward. Should be played there and nowhere near the back line ever again.

Also the lack of physical fight is telling. Mitchell should have been sat on his ■■■■ at least 5 times. Someone should have flat out hit him, but nothing came his way.

Would it be fair to say Hird got out coached after half time?

Some serious questions over the list.
Need to bite the bullet. Re build. We have some good players. Z Merrett star , Heppell , hooker , Hurley, Joedan , colyer…
Some of the older players need to be moved on. (The tough calls need to be made like geelong has been doing.)

We are SOFT!!!
Blokes calling us Drug cheats, blokes celebrating with there finger in the air…yet nothing, Wallis, Soloman,Duckworth, Neagle etc. would thrive on that ■■■■.

When you get punched by the playground bully and don’t fight back, well… hard to feel good about that.

I don’t care half as much about the results of this game anymore. This club needs to feel good about something… right now they got nothing.

Considering they lost Frawley early, we had a real chance to challenge in that game.

We rolled over…Daniher is a disgrace of a FF worst in the league in front of goal…he shouldn’t be that bad being such a high pick, potential number one.

Carlisle played better but needs to do more leading out of the forward line and create more space to lead into.

Our midfield stinks! Watson is a shadow of himself, Melksham is no existant, Kav played ok when he came on, Heppell when missing second half, NOB played poorly but it is his first game and will only get better for the run.

We lacked pace with Fantasia and Colyer out

Our pressure around the ball disappeared in second half, you could see the game opening up with Hawks ball movement and creating space.

Keep playing the kids James, no more finals talk or thinking now…blood more kids and give them opportunity to get a taste through reward in VFL.

Keep playing NOB, Kav, Gleeson, Jerrett, Edwards for experience and see where they fit by years end.

Bring out the marshmallows again.

In the rooms with a work promo. Sorry guys but Carlisles ankle is shot

Carlisle injured…

My expectations are not as unrealistic as some on here. We played the best side in the comp after coming off two very poor performances and our first quarter was energetic and intense. Tick for Hird, they were very ready to play and he had them up. In the end beaten by a better side.
And for mine, once again Stanton worked tirelessly and can hold his head high.

Just keep in mind we just played the back-to-back premiers.

Positives:
-1st half endeavour.
-Not getting blown away in the last after they kicked two quickly.
-Smack is a find.
-Z.Merrett continuing to shine.
-J.Merrett good zip/line running/link play.

Negatives

  • Speak for themselves.

Btw the boys seen happy. Lots of smiles and chats. It appears they believe today was a step in the right direction

Sam Mitchell confirms we took unauthorised supplements, season over.

Sounds like we’re vying with Carlton and Pt Adelaide for top spot on the stink ladder.

Not sure there is any point in playing Winderlich again until Round 22.

Time for rebuilding
