Hope they embarrassingly tried to get the “Ccccccccccollllllllllllllingfiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilth” chant going with 20k
Hmmm, so what you’re saying is all that extra money I’ve paid over the years Essendon has been a basket case could’ve gone toward actually just buying a GF ticket if we ever became any good?
Yep, another thing to put on the “Essendon hurt me” list to mention in my therapy session.
I checked the wording for High Mark and it says "Guaranteed access to the Grand Final if Essendon participate".
i thought what the fark does that mean, as it does not say seat. So I called the Club and the young lady who I spoke with was very guarded and didn’t give a definitive answer. She said she would get more detail and send me an email.
Now I have no expectations of the Bombers in a GF this year, but if we are and getting seats is a crapshoot then the regime will be toppled
Keep us informed on that. I’m certain we were entitled to a seat. I don’t know what the difference between ‘access’ and ‘seat’ would be…
High Mark or Silver Reserved Seat membership both include priority 1 access to Grand Final tickets.
neither High Mark and Silver memberships, or a Grand Final Guarantee includes a Grand Final ticket itself, this must still be purchased by following the instructions provided to members in the weeks leading into the Grand Final.
So basically Priority 1 are a better shot than Priority 2 but it’s all a ballot system
Not what I was told. There allegedly is no ballot for High Mark Members.
Accept that you have to apply and buy a seat, but whether guaranteed access somehow just means the chance to buy a seat, a seat is guaranteed on purchase is the question.
For years as full AFL members we were guaranteed a GF seat, originally on a walk up basis and then by reserving a seat. AFL got greedy and increased Membership numbers so there were more members than seats. I fear so have the Bombers.
Would like to know of the total number of High. Mark members how many actually go to the footy.
That was taken from the club website and confirmed my suspicions that HM does not get a guaranteed seat
Do Essendon AFL members get a better chance of a seat?
In 2001 I had guaranteed access, released earlier than for other members, but only got standing room.
(And then someone wanted to stand with a friend, so I got their seat anyway… in the AFL area, too.)
I organized my Carlton mates ballot entry last year, he’s hopeless with this stuff.
Basically priority 1 are guaranteed a seat, you enter the ballot using your membership number in the week leading up to the prelim.
The two winning clubs members then get broken up into their priority groups and tickets get allocated, your nominated credit/debit card will automatically get charged, so make sure you have enough money in your account otherwise you will miss out.
Entering the ballot is completed on the ticketek website.
Cannot recall for silver AFL members.
Gold members can try and get tickets on the Sunday.
I used to think High Mark could get their tickets on the same day.
The rest have their chance on the Monday.
Whoever misses out goes into a ballot. The club usually try and purchase tickets that are allocated to other club members.
You could end up getting your tickets on the Thursday, so usually you’d try your chances on the Wednesday when Gen Admin have their chance.
The club do their best but a lot of members will end up being disappointed. Hence the usual yearly reporting about members who have been loyal for 30 years and missed out.
AFL Gold members of the competing clubs are virtually guaranteed a ticket for the Grand Final. After that pre sale it then goes to all other Gold members. It there are any left over then AFL silver members of the competing clubs are next in line but if Essendon were ever in the GF then it wouldn’t get to that stage.
■■■■ me… Reading these points makes me think I’m in the lid off thread.
We are all organising GF tickets
Anyway, if you are HM or Silver reserved, you’ll get an email on the eve of the finals. Week before prelim $10 will be taken out of your account as registration for GF tickets. You need to accept this. The Monday after we win the preliminary final funds will be automatically deducted from your account for GF tickets.
HM and silver reserved are in priority one. All those members will get tickets. You may not get great seats.
Collingwood legend members last year were guaranteed seats. All other members had the option to pick seats or seats with standing room. My guess is we’ll have the same.
So as others have rightfully stated the GF guarantee is a scam as I very much doubt that there would be anything left after HM and Silver members grab their tickets
I note this new ‘Gold’ package. They get access to a seat in bays 44-46. Ie, no designated seat but access to a seat somewhere in those 3 bays.
I suspect this is a ‘trial’ to combat unused members reserved seats that don’t get resold. It ensures they can fill those seats, or at least regain some control over how they’re filled. Richmond have introduced this access system for a few of their categories following their flags.
We had about 4,500 High Mark members a few years ago, obviously less now. It used to be a waiting list. Further, at any home game, only between 40-60% of reserved seats are actually used due to other commitments, travel, illness etc.
Yes that too. Iirc higher cat members get better seats. Eg level 2.
Nope, not any longer.
Again AFL are just greedy prikks. Last GF we went using our AFL Membership, we were in the Ticket queue early and got tickets quickly, but they were right up in the top of the Warne stand and still cost heaps.
On GF days spoke with many people sitting in AFL Members and they were not members and got better seats through other sources. Tried since and it was just too difficult , so I cracked it and after being an original AFL member from 1981 quit.
Probably should have just saved the hundreds of dollars and bought a package for the GF from one of the many AFL hanger ons that make a fortune on the day.
i know its not allowed but a lot of AFL members sell their seat. a mate of mine has done it every year.
You maybe able to ‘upgrade’ your membership to a Highmark or silve. A c–twood supporter I know did that to access the 2010 GF. That’s assuming we have those membership categories not sold out.
