Mlb 2015

Only a few guys left who would be considered every day players, Drew, Ubaldo, Nelson Cruz, all come with draft pick compensation.

Spring training continues to edge closer, too slowly if you ask me.

Yankees are having a crack at Drew, guess they figure they are already over the tax threshold so might aswell keep spending

Good idea, he doesn’t solve their infield defensive issues but he can help. Also will be nice for the Sox to add another sandwich pick after the first round.

Still think there is some doubt over Jeter and he could fill in until he returns or be a long term replacement. If Jeter is fine Drew could move to 2nd or 3rd as I dont think Roberts is any good

Had the same thought, that would be their plan if they sign Drew, even if he should be playing short instead of Jeter, so so much better there defensively.

As for Roberts, he’s a very good player, only issue is he usually spends most of the season on the DL which isn’t helpful.

Yankees have signed 17yo Aussie pitcher Brandon Stenhouse, the kid should pocket around $1.4m in his first season plus a scholarship

Freddie Freeman 8-yr deal for $135m and a 2-yr deal for Jason Heyward. Bit of a postponement for Heyward who had an appendectomy and a broken jaw this season, He started awfully but rallied strongly before getting hit in the face.

Looks like the Mariners are scouting Nelson Cruz. I wonder if he’s poorly regarded in Texas for costing his team the World Series against the Cardinals. Looked to me like he crapped his dacks heading back towards the wall.

So good, lucky prick

He's poorly regarded in most places because he just isn't a very good player anymore, would be very petty for a team to base their opinon of a player on one play in one game. Hell Ron Washington is one of the worst in game managers in the majors, he did much more damage to those WS appearances then Cruz and they are happy to keep him around.

Seattle been looking at him for a while, might just be to play DH as he's very poor in the field and only getting worse.

Yeah, but this was a catch to WIN the World Series and it looked to me like he straight out jibbed it. He catches that, there are no Freese heroics. Third out, ninth inning, Rangers leading, about to win their 4th game, and the guy craps his dacks. As bad as Billy Bucknor.

Bucknor didn't really crap his dacks though, just got a (slightly) bad bounce.

Still no Steve Bartman

Still a ■■■■-easy fielding opportunity for Bucknor...you always assume you'll get a bad bounce, and it just jumped a bit, didn't go sideways.

When we played cricket at Caulfield Park, our captain used to put his whole body behind the ball, getting down almost on his knees, and with all the little weed tufts, the ball used to take some horrible bounces and hit him everywhere. My, how we used to laugh.

Infield groundball - bend your knees, get your backside close to the ground, hands out in front, watch the ball.  Don't begin to rise until the ball is in your glove (ie - don't spend it before you got it!). Woeful effort by Bucknor.  He simply screwed it up.  I play third base in the local winter comp and I feel ■■■■■ when I tunnel-ball one, let alone doing it to blow the World Series at a long-suffering, success-starved club!

Had a speedster at the plate so that's why he paniked.

This may all be true but I'd bet this one play has 0% impact on their decision to not re sign him, they have a million other poor defensive plays to make their mind up about that part of him game. This one play bullshit is what sells newspapers and is what they make movies about, it most definitely isn't what smart baseball GM's like Jon Daniels at the Rangers pay much attention too if at all.

He was also just about the Sox MVP in that series, they aren't even in that position without him.

I didn't say that's why they got rid of him...I said there'd be some who look sideways at him and grit their teeth. He squibbed it.

Some pitcher moves...

Paul Maholm Braves to Dodgers

Tommy Hanson Angels to Rangers (minor league)

Bronson Arroyo Reds to D-Backs.

Hanson's never been the same since his injury. Atlanta looked set for pitchers with Jurrjens and Hanson. Both gone, and still 6 young starters.

Roy Oswalt has retired after 13 seasons...probably 10 of them pretty good, and the last 3 sucked.

Derek Jeter has announced 2014 will be his final season.

Farewell captain and future hall of famer.
