Mlb 2016

2nd half (if you ignore maths) of the season begins today. Despite our 6.5 games lead over LA I think its going to be neck and neck in the NL West. We have a ■■■■■■ hard schedule coming up soon with away series against the Red Sox, Cubs, Nationals and Mets. Yikes!

Yikes. Just got swept by the Padres. Luckily Dodgers lost 2 of 3 to the D’backs so we only lost one game off our lead.

Lots of rumours circling that the Yankees are gonna blow out all up and trade some vets for prospects/stay picks. Names being bandied around include Beltran, Chapman or Miller and Eovaldi.

If this was any other team there wouldn’t even be a debate, the team would just do it. This team is going nowhere, but there is too much of a win - now mentality that nothing will happen.

Is anyone else’s MLB TV subscription behaving badly?

Last week mine (via AppleTV) just decided under “Today’s Games” list to show game times instead of scores. Selecting the game (any game) results in computer saying no.

I finally found a work-around but this is very annoying.

Cracking game at Fenway today. Red Sox taking a early lead 8-0 only to have it cut to 7-8 not long after. Hanley was the difference with 3 home runs. At one stage he was hit by pitch, you could see him saying “I will get you back” he then crushed the same pitcher over the Green Monster!

Yep that was the Giants' 5th straight loss :(

Off to the Bronx we go.

Chris Sale scratched and sent home by the White Sox after going all Edward Scissorhands on the team’s throwback unis the team was slated to wear.

Wish someone had done this with the stupid grey clash strips we wore the last couple of seasons.

Looks like Yankees are trading Chapman to cubs

What a nut bag hey

A’s trade Billy Burns to KC for Eibner.

Non-waiver trade deadline coming up.

Atlanta and San Diego have swapped Kemp for Olivera. At least Kemp can play and doesn’t belt his missus.

Plenty of others on the go…looks like Brewers catcher Lucroy to Cleveland.

Pirates closer Mark Melancon to Washington.

Lucroy used his no-trade clause on Cleveland.

Must hate Rock’n’Roll.

Fair win by the Cubs today over the Mariners. 6-0 down after 3. Tied it in the 9th with their pitcher Wood fielding LF on occasion.
Of all people the winning run was batted in by pinch hitting pitcher Lester who lay a bunt down for the win.
Ridiculous match.

A’s offload Rich Hill and Josh Reddick to the Dodgers for some prospects.

Going full tank mode now.

Trade deadline swaps

TEX get Jonathan Lucroy (MIL C), Carlos Beltran (OF/DH NYY)

LAD get Josh Reddick (OF OAK) and Rich Hill (SP OAK)

SF get Matt Moore (SP TAM) and Will Smith (RP MIL)

CLE get Andrew Miller (RP NYY) and Brandon Guyer (OF TAM)

NYY offload Beltran, Miller, Ivan Nova (SP PIT) and Aroldis Chapman (CHC)

NYM get Jay Bruce (OF CIN)

CHC got Aroldis Chapman (RP NYY) and Joe Smith (RP LAA)

BAL get Steve Pearce back from TAM

TOR get Francisco Liriano (SP PIT)

Most of the trades were for prospects

Really sad about lose Duffy :frowning: I know baseball (and sports in general) is a business but this sucks.

I double posted so am editing this. The thing I love about Matt Duffy is that he seemed so appreciative of what he had, so confident, yet so realistic. Wish him all the best in Tampa.

Sale continues in Chicago

Sale continues shredding it up in Chicago

Fixed.

Some local news, MLB have given up their 75% share of the ABL, along with that will go the funding which props it up, leaving the league in precarious position. Baseball Victoria have advised they will effectively take over running the Aces leaving Huber GM, but will aim for better alignment between the team and the states development pathways and local leagues. I’d say the other states will take a similar approach, time will tell suppose.

The most likely scenario as I see it is a cut down version of the ABL going forward, with less imports which will directly effects the standard of play. Not a great day for baseball in Australia, particularly with the news the sport will return to the Olympics in 2020.
