Mlb 2017

Freddie out ten weeks with a broken wrist. James Loney signed as a backup.

Kevin Pillar nearly started a blue yesterday when he struck out when Jason Motte quickpitched him. Turns out he called Motte a ■■■■■■ and suspended himself for 2 days.

Giants got on a mini streak (winning 5 in a row) before running into Kershaw. Happier with our effort lately. Now we face Cardinals and Cubs (both away) back to back. Huge 7 days coming up.

There was a term I heard for the first time the other day when watching Kenley Jansen of the Dodgers. He struck out the side in nine pitches - an ‘immaculate inning’.

Only 5 ever for the Dodgers and previous one was about 40 years ago, one of 3 by the legendary Sandy Koufax.

Even without Freddie Freeman, the Braves have won their first two against the Nats, 7-4 and 5-2. Production from Matt Kemp and the two catchers, Suzuki and Flowers. 2-run HR from the replacement 3B Rio Ruiz too.

To replace Freeman, they’ve signed two veteran left-handed 1B’s, Matt Adams from the Cards and James Loney (LAD, NYM, TB inter al). Loney on a minor league contract. That minor league contract with Ryan Howard would have been useful if he’d shown anything…but it seems he only likes hitting homers against the Braves.

Red Sox frustrating. Big win today but its so inconsistent

stros got cleaned sweeped by the Indians…not a good series at all!

Giants take 2 of 3 against the Cards and are 7-3 in their last 10. Still a long way to go before we dig ourselves out of the hole we are in. Tonight we start a 4-game set against the Cubs.

Up 5-0 at the moment. Panik having a huge game - leadoff homer and 2 doubles

Cubs hit two 2-run HRs in the 8th to revive nightmares of our Game 4 meltdown in the playoffs last year. We hold on to win 6-4.

Braves come back from yesterday’s 3-2 loss to Strasburg to start a series against the Pirates with a 5-2 win over Gerrit Cole. Foltynewicz finally getting some run support. Brandon Phillips with his 200th HR (in his career, not this season) and Matt Adams with a 2-run HR, his first for Atlanta.

Twins came from from a 5-0 hole to beat the Orioles 14-7, Reds beat the Indians 5-1 and the Rastros knock over the Tigers 1-0. Angels beat the Rays 3-2. Mike Trout didn’t hit a homer.

Kershaw holds off the Cards 1-0 till the top of the ninth when he gives up a hit, walks one and throws a wild pitch that scores the man from second.

Still 1-1 one out in the 13th.

Braves went into a 3-hour rain delay in the bottom of the 6th trailing 3-2. Came back out to take the lead 4-3 into the 9th. Johnson gave up 2 runs to Mercer, and they then faced Watson, who’s dynamite on left-handed hitters. Inciarte singled with one out, Markakis doubles him home, Kemp IBB and Adams singled home Markakis. The 3 who hit all left-handed. Game finished just before 2am.

Adams also hit a home run - certainly proving a great fill-in for Freddie Freeman.

Cubs beat Cueto’s Giants 4-1 with a big HR from Rizzo, and Angels win again with another Trout homer, leading with 15, equal with Aaron Judge.

Logan Forsythe drives in Hernandez who drew a 2-out walk to win 2-1 for LA.

Last night was frustrating. Cubs take a 2-5 lead into the top of the 9th. After an epic at bat Giants’ Williamson hits a 2-run HR to make it 4-5. Then the Giants have a man on 1st and Panik batting. Ump calls a strike on a clear Ball 4. Game over.

We got done much more easily today. Finish the road trip 3-4.

Now you’ve got the Braves in San Fran.

Won the first 2 games, then came from behind Pittsburgh to take a 5-3 lead into the 9th. Johnson loaded them up then gave up a two-run single to tie it. Single on an overturned call, another single, then a walk. That overturned call hurt, but it was the right decision. Turns everything around.

Collmenter came in for the 10th and gave up 7 runs, and immediately got DFA’ed. I think before that, in his past few games, he had an ERA of about 16. Shedload more than that now.

Got smacked 9-4 in the finale.

Mariners struggling, but given from our opening day rotation all of Hernandez, Iwakuma, Paxton and Smyly are all currently on the DL, I suppose it is not overly surprising.

Hoping to go one of the Braves games, AN. Will take pics if I do.

Judge with his first ever Grand Slam. Has been a little quiet lately but others have picked up the slack after the Yankees went through a mini slump

Don’t bother.

Scraped through in the first game, smacked in the next two.

Where did Judge come from? Man mountain

From 6th June … this’ll be my team…

GO CARDS!!

Was our first round pick in the 2013 draft but missed the season due to injury and was farmed out for 2014 and 2015. Made his debut last year

AFAIK that’s the Arizona Cardinals, not the St Louis Cardinals…and…this being an MLB thread, not NFL…
