MUSIC GENRE - Punk - TOP 10 bands

hope im not overstepping the mark in this thread, but i would say that if youre looking for some new stuff, and havent heard of these guys, they are flying the flag for punk these days. just an outstanding band.

Anyway
I’m a 90s kid at heart.

Rancid
Frenzal Rhomb (has there been a more consistent punk band? In Aus at least?)
Bodyjar
NOFX
Propagandhi
■■■■■■ Up
MDC
Against Me
Strike Anywhere
Bronx

No particular rhyme or reason, these are just the bands that have more stuff that I keep coming back to.

■■■■ I miss my shoes getting stuck to floors in ■■■■■■ bandrooms!!

The Ramones

Op Ivy
Dead Kennedys
The Clash
Black Flag
Buzzcocks
Dropkick Murphys
NOFX

Also - love how every list of punk bands inspires the “punk or not punk” debate.

“Start Today” by Gorilla Biscuits I reckon is the most underappreciated punk/hardcore album ever.
Very very tight, start to finish.

lol, says the guy with your taste

What I dislike is this new wave of ■■■■ punk that play and sound like black flag etc from the early 80s. Like they record and mix to sound ■■■■.

I enjoy well produced music

Same scene
In NYC.

Hello to you too.

IIRC Joey Ramone was quoted that they kept their songs short so that the kids of the seventies (yeah I’m one) could crank up a Ramones album and have the entire LP played before the cops showed up
Was lucky enough to see the Ramones live a bunch of times over their years

i think it’s a pretty popular record.

Not enough!!

Well, that’s kind of the point of punk, isn’t it? If you take a punk band and record and produce them well you get Unknown Pleasures, i.e. post-punk

I had an anthropology lecturer talk about punk to his 2003? audience. ‘Green Day is not punk’. Earned my lifelong respect with that statement.

By that definition if you turn off the autotune on Kings of Leon, you get punk.

Seems a bit silly, doesn’t it?

There’s sometimes a fine line between garage and punk, I’ll give you that.

Hard ons
Psychos
The Meanies
Anything with Freddie Negro
Bored!
Suicidal T
Blowhard
Dreamkillers
The Disables
Clowns
