Next Generation Academies

Sweid has been Mister Consistent so far this season, producing solid performances every time he’s stepped onto the field. Here he had some issues with his disposal but was strong and tough on the inside as he always is, winning the ball and generating forward momentum for his team. While he was only credited with 4 tackles I felt that his pressure around the ground was excellent, creating a number of rushed possessions and turnovers.

Everytime I watch footage of Sweid, he just oozes class. I might have underappreciated his wheels too. He has some decent speed. Loved his fend of in that vision.

Definitely a bit looser with the disposal (hand & foot) than in other games.

Does he remind anyone else of Prestia, or a young Zorko?

Definitely demonstrated the wheels in that clip.

been some decent talent coming out of calder in recent years

Did Koby play in that game too?

Can def see Prestia comparison.
His speed gives him a weapon that he needs at that height.

Can anyone tell me whether we know if Rodan is any chance of picking us over Port? I recall about a year back it was fully expected he’d go to Port. you’d think we’d be a shot with him living in Melbourne. Hopefully he and Bewick are good mates.

word is he doesn’t want to go to port

I read on BigFooty a while back that since his old man is AFL goal umpire their life is pretty settled in Melbourne so that’s why we’re in the box seat to get him. Time will tell…

He wouldn’t be the first 18yo who’d jump at the chance to earn a bunch of money and live away from home without the parental units to cramp one’s lifestyle. But we’ll see I guess.

It feels like our Next Generation Academy zone is about to start paying off with lots of potential draftees. Kako and Nguyen may be the tip of the iceberg. Fingers crossed this happens and that the AwFL don’t go changing our zone.

I know that David played over 100 for Port but he also played some of his footy in Melbourne (obviously not enough for F/S). The point I’m making is that the Rodan family may not have a particularly large affiliation with Port or Adelaide as a whole and his son may want the guarantee of staying at home where he’s closer to his parents, siblings and friends.

Did we ever actually work out how he qualifies for our NGA anyway?

Rules are one parent born in an Asian or African country, but David was born in Fiji.

Or did they change the rules at some point?

North are our biggest threat to it, with Tasmania coming in they lose that zone and have put in submissions for the zones they want access to

Surely they can’t just take ours.
Just leaves them in the same place with us needing something

Why would Rodman even go to Adelaide? Last I heard he was BFF’s with Kim Jong Un.
