Port Review Thread

How good is the mood on blitz post Stringer dobbing one at full tilt from the grog squad pocket to ■■■■ the only undefeated team in the comp on a rainy Sunday? 10/10

Thanks. Very smart footballer in defence, really knows positioning but also knows his limitations including not going for too much on his kicks.

He is slow, but he is also 6’7" and weighs over 100kg.

Amazing what a bit of effort does.

Now back it up!

Anyone that says port were rubbish so we only beat them can eat my nuts.

They were rubbish becuase our pressure made them look rubbish. We pressured and tackled for 4 straight qtrs. We beat the. In the air and the ground ball

The only reason they got as close as they did, was some of our bad turnovers and some pretty bad umpiring decisions

We’re in a good place defensively now I reckon. Baguely and Hooker added steel and craft alongside the mobile Hartley and the pure class of Hurley. Mckenna and Brown will be knocking on the door as well - nothing better than competition for places to ensure 109% effort.

Honestly we have a great team on paper. Today for me was the first time the structure and effort have really “clicked”. With plenty of room for improvement from the likes of JD, Tippa and Orazio I’m really looking forward to Anzac day. Could be a classic.

Just before the first bounce the guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked” how long before we know, 2min?” .

Within 30 seconds f the first qtr I turned to him and said “ the boys are up for it”. You could just sense it from their pressure and energy around the ball

Not being able to enjoy what should have been a comfortable 10 goal win was offset by the manner in which the boys didn’t let Port get enough momentum to get within 3 goals of us

Please let’s also not forget Fark Carlton

It really doesn’t matter, His good far outweighs his bad, We know he’s not a gazzelle

I dont feel the need t crow too much yet, we have not been real good either yet. WE still have way much more improvement and upside. Look at the dees, now there is average and disappointing. They will have some good wins Im sure but they dont have our firepower. They will get spanked much more than we will

15 to 21 and the umps still couldnt get us to lose,

Fairdincum those blind tunc’s cant see ■■■■

go bombers…Baggers is a gun and should be the the role modle for Essenond new brand of deperate footy

Until we stop butchering the ball position 7 to 12, I always wanted Hooker back but hopefully it showed the coaches today that a mobile forward could cause us big problems. I think Joe is only a game away.

How much better did our forward line look today, a bit smaller but a lot more energy and forward pressure.

Stringer did some great stuff

His bash and crash is just awesome. Joe was pretty good in the contest too early in the game. His efforts created opportunity as well. Im tipping Joe and Jake are going to have a massive Anzac day,

The guy on the kiss cam refusing to kiss his mrs was very very funny. I usually hate that stuff, but his stubbornness to not do it while he was on camera was top notch

I reckon we just need to tidy up some kicking especially into the forward 50. Too many times we either kick directly to the opposition, and we also kick to a one on one under real pressure. We have some fantastic assets both in the air and on the ground, if in doubt, we need to kick in high to the danger areas. Green and others have been very effective on the ground, we just have to stop wasting it

He relented in the end

Hooker attempted to peel off and make himself available for intercept marks, without much success. He only took one mark doing this IIRC. At other times he looked a bit slow, including twice in the last quarter where he couldn’t go with his opponent and conceded easy lead up passes, which is what is going to happen to him down back. Just fair today.
The major difference with our backline today was that Port weren’t as good as WB last week in hitting up free players on their way forward, combined with the same thing happening around the midfield contests due to our improved tackling and pressure, causing less clean ball coming in.

True, but he seemed to do it once the cameras turned away. Just loved the arms crossed and the shake of the head
