99% of the Royal family’s wealth belongs to the reigning monarch. That’s how the monarchy stays rich, if they split all the dosh between all the brothers amd cousins etc generation after generation, the holdings would be whittled away n a few generations. So non-inheriting royals and their families live high on the hog while theyre still in the monarch’s immediate family, but as time passes and they get more peripheral, they all of a sudden have to make do with the relatively tiny (by the standards they’re used to) holdings they own as individuals. Which dont go so far when you’re hiring the best lawyers in two continents for years, trying to keep yourself out of creepo jail.
