Perfectly set up for the, ‘what are they doing?’ and ‘where are they going?’ comments in two months time when we revert to the mean and cannot compete with the best teams.
It’s a common media cycle. Pump up the up and comers, then go hard when they don’t deliver later on.
We’re in a decent position, but a lot has to go right for it to bare any fruit.
Kane knows that, but is happy to troll his way along the length of the ride. After all, he has two tv shows per week, special comments at games, on SEN, etc. he has plenty of content to repeat and fill.
He was actually pretty balanced with what he said. Said we are no chance of making finals but if we could finish with 10-11 wins this year it would be a plus.
Yep. He’ll be calling for Scott to be fired by the end of the year & questioning why Essendon has no young talent. I’m genuinely not sure if he believes half the stuff he says & writes because its like he’s simply a news reader who will flip & flop based on the cue cards. “Here Kano, say this, it will be controversial”.
I’m pretty sure he was highly critical in us extending Merrett’s contract when we didn’t need to.
And Scott’s contract too.
But the number 1 reason he’s ’all in’ is because they are both secured long term?
He’ll change his tune. And he’ll back it up by saying ‘that’s his opinion at the time’ but then that opinion changed.
I don’t mind people changing their opinion, but he does it to bait people into a conversation then tries to corner the discussion a particular way. He definitely doesn’t hedge his bets and plays both sides of a particular argument. He sits on one side of it clearly, then flips later on.
Besides injury I can’t see how anyone would be get to the point of saying that even if/after we take a beating rest of the year. Not enough or not able to develop it sure but there is genuine young talent there for all to see atm.
