Richard DiNatalie vs Andrew Bolt

I assume that because he refuses to answer the question that the answer is "no he did not watch the video". DT always answers by ignoring the question.

Sorry - I didn’t realise this was the most important issue around this discussion. No, I have not watched the video however I am taking the cues from other posters here on what was said.

LOL

“I don’t know BUUUUUUT”

Spend the 8 minutes to watch it (you can even fap for about 3 minutes of it) or STFU

Why?
I already know Di Natale is against the China FTA and that he wants more refugees let into this country.

I know for the Twitter generation video and memes are everything but unless watching it means the above statement is incorrect then I don’t know what purpose it serves.

Is it incorrect?
Has he changed his position?

This is why you are an ignorant fool. DeNatalie has gone to the effort to put himself out there in the wheel house of right wing propaganda and explain his position on things, and you just assume what he is going to say, and dismiss it. Even Andrew frigging Bolt gives him the credit for doing it, you could at least watch it.

I've already acknowledged that he gets some respect for at least appearing outside the usual echo chamber.

Not sure why I’m ignorant.
I appear to be the only one here that knows that the Unions heavily donate to the Greens.

And whats frightening is that most of the posters on here are Greens voters…

LOL.
Yeah only you …

… and all the people who bothered to watch the vid.

You certainly are a unique snowflake though, no-one can ever take that away from you.

more to the point, that Video DOES NOT COVER THE FTA at all.

find some respect to actually watch the OP.

I disagree - his vehement defence of unions, his defence of the donations he receives from them and his eagerness to see the Royal Commission disbanded coupled with the known Greens opposition to the Chinese FTA are all very much linked.

How could they not be?

And most people know it too.

Deleted, cant let this **** get the better of me.

Or, you know, ban the troll?

Doesn’t happen any more.
None cares enough now.

That seems like a green light to me… let the unfettered abuse begin.

He talks on the video about the donations from the Unions. And he owns those donations and doesn't try to dodge the issue.

A fact that everyone in this thread knows, except you, because you didn’t watch the video which is the actual topic being discussed in the thread.

Sigh - I am not saying that they have been hiding the donations.

After all, its on the public record so only an idiot would deny it. I’m not sure why he need a bravery award for simply stating the obvious.

What is becoming obvious now is the close link between the militant unions opposed to the China FTA and his own opposition to the FTA.

Yes the Greens have received donations from unions. So what? In what world is receiving donations from a union not okay, but receiving donations from Big Tobacco fine.

Err - when they oppose a policy that is clearly against this country’s best interests and in the interests of the donor.

What are your thoughts on Chinese corporations being able to sue the government for loss of profits? If passed this will also trigger a clause to alter the Japan and USA trade agreement

We haven’t won on any FTA we’ve signed. Every one of them, the other country does better, by a long way, & every one of them has diminished the fairness quotient in the country markedly.

Nothing is free.

When Bolt talks about the migration issues facing the world and his link to “lax” migration policy I nearly vomited. What kind of person thinks like that?

Its no different to anything else thats in place now.

No, you didn’t say that, you said:

Which I pointed out was patently false, as that fact was discussed at length in the very video which was the subject of the thread, so everyone in this thread already knew it.

actually where I think RDN wasn't clear enough there, Bolt kept semantically using the detail that the boy was not from Syria to reference his stance on immigration when where the boy was from really has nothing to do with the bigger picture, if anything it should only be used to illustrate the unsafe passage people are using to get out of the region. RDN quite strongly pushed back that the problem in Syria is not primarily ISIS but the Assad regime.

Someone who lives in the real world and not a socialist utopia.

Aren’t people allowed to question if there is a link or is this something else that can’t be discussed like opposition to SSM or a contrarian view on climate change.

Besides its perfectly valid if you ask me and I’m sure every government considering a migrant program would ask that same question.

I think firstly it would be a good start to acknowledge how horrible the situation must be for people living in this part of the world that they would take such risks to escape it. Try to show some level of humanness.

There should be a discussion about migration policy and the migration issues being faced now - but this should be in conjunction with how we can help alleviate the problem be it through humanitarian assistance, military assistance and working with our international partners. The issue in Syria isn’t just ISIS; it is a culmination of problems arising from the Assad regime, US war in Iraq etc. If you think that isn’t our concern, well where do you think ISIS began -insurgency from the Iraq war which we had a part to play.

Acknowledging it doesn’t solve the problem or make the question any less valid.

There’s been enough talk from various windbags (I’m looking at you Obama) ever since the war in Syria began. And guess where its got everyone.
Nowhere.

Less talk, more action - the only thing that will solve this is ground force troops from the US and its allies. Preferably China and Russia too.

Otherwise prepare for more of the same with Europe gradually becoming more and more hostile to the refugees.

Yep, because a full scale ground war in Syria is highly likely to create less refugees. Yep.

Good effort from him but doubt it will change anyone’s view.

Handful of people who have been sitting on the fence maybe, but let's be honest, those people don't watch the bolt report

Should stop being called a ‘free’ trade agreement in favour of just ‘trade’ agreement.
