Ridiculous Lyrics

If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow don’t be alone now.

Not ridiculous but Tools’ 46&2 had some great lines.

I want a beast to cross me over
I want a ■■■■■ to guide me in

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow don't be alone now.

I thought it was ‘alarmed’, not ‘alone’

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen I am the walrus, goo goo g' joob goo goo g' joob Goo goo g' joob goo goo g' joob Goo gooooooooooo jooba jooba jooba jooba jooba jooba Jooba jooba Jooba jooba Jooba jooba
Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye Crabalocker fishwife pornographic priestess Boy you been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down

…drugs are bad, mkay

Surely Blinded by the Light by Manfred Man has to get a gig.

Loser by Beck

“our home is girt by sea”…?

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow don't be alone now.

I thought it was ‘alarmed’, not ‘alone’

You’re right. Either way.

Surely Blinded by the Light by Manfred Man has to get a gig.

On every level, one of the most ridiculous songs ever recorded.

‘Wrapped up like a douche, with a roller in the night’
I’ve since learned it is ‘duece’.

It was argued the song was about cocaine use.

Deuce being a two dollar note and runner being a line.

And it was performed by Manfred Mann but written by Springsteen.

I was inspired to start this thread after hearing a little jazz number some oldies may know - 'It Ain't Necessarily So'.

And the line -

He made his home in
A fish’s abdomen

Got any ridiculous lyric lines?

Whatcha talkin’ about Lewis? This is a great line. And an accurate depiction of the ridiculousness inherent in many of the stories in the Holy Bible. Which is what the song is about.

“And the Lord caused a great fish to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was alive within the fish for three days and three nights. In the fish Jonah cried to the Lord; and the Lord caused the great fish to throw up Jonah upon the dry land.”

Yeah yeah - I went to Catholic college.
Still is a bit of a stretch to rhyme the two, don’t you think.
Granted - also ingenious.

I spent a few hours, long ago, with the young’ns, trying to decipher ‘Come on Eileen’ - Dexies Midnight Runners.
Give it a go - but don’t be a cheater and look the lyrics up!

Looks like a 17 year old on acid wrote that.

I’ll preface this by saying, I love this song in part because the lyrics are so ridiculous - refer to my signature.

The Grobe

Sometimes the ones you hold so close can make you cry
But it’s a pain in the ■■■ to let 'em go
With a battered wish you hoped that the monkey wore a tie
But it’s no surprise to find he don’t

Put the pointed pencil in the pepper-po
and take a little sniff of the things below
Bring it to a boil and simmer low
Put the noodle on the griddle as it climbs the Grobe

Watch the worker shield his heart from the world outside
Didn’t get a chance to let him know
Alsace is spinning fast and wine mixed with the tide
Please don’t let my brain explode

Put the pointed pencil in the pepper-po
and take a little sniff of the things below
Bring it to a boil and simmer low
Put the noodle on the griddle as it climbs the Grobe

yep, drugz.

Macarthur Park's lyrics were a bit silly, with cakes left out in the rain.

I think Richard Harris may have been consuming recreational substances.

Well it was the '60s… you must remember them…? But the melting cake also works as a metaphor.
