I dont know how bad/good essendon is.
But as there is absolutely nothing to suggest the dons will be any good Iāll probably assume the worst

Well we do tend to stack one team to beat up on the other so I guess thatās when we play our best footy.
The season hasnāt started. We donāt know how the other teams are travelling. ā ā ā ā them all we can beat them.

Round 1 tipping is always notoriously hard to pick across the board.
I think we have a 50/50 chance, but the result really doesnāt mean anything.
Round 2 & 3 will begin to show us the standard weāre likely to be playing at this year.
i reckon round 1 showed us everything we needed to know last year.

Admire the enthusiasm from some about the upcoming season.
This is probably the most underwhelmed Iāve ever felt coming into an AFL season. Usually I can conjure up some sort of argument about why this could be the surprise packet year but after nearly 20 years of underperformance, softness, club politics and capitulations ā¦ not sure even an impressive Round 1 win is going to shift the mindset.
I think itās going to be a long 6 months.

Long 6 months coming up from a fan perspective.
Kids (albeit promising) finding their way into the start of career searching for consistency and/or developing an AFL level physique.
A smattering of important senior players clearly struggling for fitness.
A new coach and new game plan.
It all points to more lows than highs.
Weāll put it together at some point and take some scalps, like we always do, but there will be some hard losses this year.
The football threads wonāt be an enjoyable place !
