It ia a big game for us.
We have the softest draw to start a season in a decade.
We need to hit the season with a bang.
Beat Hawks and we should be gunning for 4 zip heading into Rd 5 against Melbourne.
Lose, and we are heading for bottom 4.

Yes look at Geelong

I’ve backed us and put a K on us round one that’s how confident we will get the job done and easily

You either haven’t watched any footy since 2000 or you are a liar.

I just started watching Round 1 vs Geelong last year. We forced a turn over within the first minute of the game with Geelong ā€˜hot potato’ in the back pocket sending a loopy high handball which was intercepted by Essendon after pressure. 1.29 on the AFL app replay.

This was a game we got smashed in.

Name a game where you think we didn’t force a turnover from pressure and I will take a look at it for you. But do yourself a favour and actually watch a game to see this incredible feat you claim you havent seen for 22 years.

You’re welcome.

Apropo to nothing but we are having a drinks session at work and telecasting the game. The bloke in charge of the advertisement used NFL balls instead of AFL balls in the design work. I told him to change it. He said what would I know…

10 mins late, he changed the advertisement and now the design now has AFL balls.

He’s unlikely to question my AFL knowledge or any other subject for the remainder of our time here.

Round 2 vs Brisbane we start well… it take a couple of minutes before the Lions actually have a string of possesions. Essendon pressure causes a couple of turnovers around the 4.30 mark of AFL app replay (about 3 mins into game). One turnover is by hand and the other a rushed Rich kick when he recieves a handball under immediate pressure and bangs it on the boot high to a 2 to 1 out-number where Essendon secure the turn-over.

You’ve never seen this since 2000?

Go girl. I’d have paid good money to hear your response……and to have seen the look on his face.

Round 3 vs Melbourne in first minute of the game in their forward line. Bullen is set upon in forward fifty the disposal misses the mark and Essendon clear.

Round 4 vs Crows in the first 4 seconds Crows turn it over after winning the ball from the tap and pressure causes turn over to essendon who break away from centre but a horrible kick goes straight to Crows. Essendon swarm and a hand ball reciever is immediately pressured and the kick goes straight to the Dons.

Every single game…

And?

Essendon were the worst defesnsive team in the comp last year and also the worst at conceding coast to coast goals.

The last game i remember that we forced the oppo into pressure was against Geelong in 2018 where we won by 34 points.

4 rounds in then Anzac Day will be  day again.

They wait for us to ā– ā– ā– ā–  it up or we give it to them.

Any team below 10th on the ladder is a terrible footy team, atleast 10th & 9th provide hope for fans during the year.

Nino, here is your statement. ā€œNot onceā€ have you seen Essendon apply pressure to the point it forces a turn-over in the last 22 years.

It took me 1 minute and 29 seconds of watching a replay from round 1 last year to disprove this statement. Somehow you haven’t been able to see something that occurs hundreds of times every season, multiple times in EVERY SINGLE GAME.

This tells me you either never actually watch Essendon games, are a troll, or have some sort of brain injury for which I am truly empathetic if that is the case.

In over 40 years of watching nearly EVERY SINGLE ESSENDON GAME, I have never witnessed a match where what you claim has occured.

Are we watching the same team/game?

Please point me to an example of what you are talking about because I think you are watching something else entirely which would help to explain a lot of your posts on this forum.

Oh my…

Do they know why they are getting into? I can only imagine what a live match day thread would be like with @Heffsgirl in full flight.

Please go easy on them….

Mate of mine told me over the weekend that he can’t wait for the footy season to start (Pies fan). Not only had I forgotten what that feels like, I’d legit forgotten that feeling existed.

I don’t see any reasons for optimism going into this season. First time since 2016 we’re an absolute lock for missing the finals, and after what we dished up in the latter third of last season it’s clear that this team is average at best the list is in a state of development. It’s going to take years of getting everything in it’s right place to set this club up for success again. I’m not pessimistic, i’m glad some fundamental change is happening, but anyone hoping let alone expecting Essendon to play good footy this year is deluded.

I for one cannot wait to see what wallpaper the club sends out when we lose to Hawthorn

No one can influence how you feel (in your case not even a good Essendon performance), but if you can’t get revved up and support the Dons in the first game against fkg Hawthorn and S Mitchell, might be time to chuck it in.
