on a slightly different note, it’s not even about negativity or positivity for a lot of people, it’s about pragmatic pattern recognition, and specifically related to human behaviour.

some people are wanting statistical data before they decide about how to view if things change or are changing.

A lot have started to learn to look at behaviours that lead to poor results over said decades.
we can already see certain behavioural similarities occurring under a kinda new regime, scott being the only new person in the coaches box making big decisions, and as of yet we don’t know what if any stamp he potentially has put on the club yet.
we do know however he

  • publically backed and allowed heppell to make the call on what he decided to do with the captaincy
  • at this stage looks to be picking tippa rd 1 which isn’t going to be football related, it’s going to be warm fuzzy feels related
  • yes only a praccy match but picked underdone players
    etc etc

these are just some of the behavioural traits some have already seen, and ironically know whether it produces a win it’s not really indicative of anything changing, as you’re still have poor decision making and poor behavioural practices making these calls, which we know over time doesn’t result in success.

so it’s not negative to point out when you know things aren’t going to work, esp when you have so much evidence.
it’s not peoples fault that they don’t want to ā€œresetā€ every year and forgot or wipe any past experience and just delusionally assume this year and this time, things will be different, this time us thinking it’s just a ā€œpointless practice matchā€ is going to change the mentality and resilience of the group, this year a different head coach is just going to change everything just cos.

You always post good content but I think this is one of your better posts as it succinctly outlines the mindset and what has been/what is going wrong at the club.

It could be a 30,000 word essay… let’s face it… but this is better.

Not a bad point but if that were put into practise the club would lose half it’s fan base overnight.

For the first time in a long time, I’m actually scared of this first game. ā€˜Hate’ is a big word - but it gets as close as it can get for me with whoreforn. I’d almost accept smashing these farks and conceding the rest of the year as a building year.

I’m certain everyone felt this way heading into 2021 season

Just want to see our young players attack the game with vigour.

The comp at present is stacked with a number of quality sides full of men.

Its a tight comp still but i think for a younger side theres a bit of a gap to cross.

I hope Scott turns out to be the right man for the job

I am glad that you are not the coach.

Full of self fulfilling negative prophecy.
Once bad, twice bad, three time bad , always bad, there is no possibility of redemption in your eyes.

Change is occurring, as we speak, the psychological influences at play, the coaching panel, even the mix of the playing group and the change in leadership dynamics. Merret has only held the mantle for 5 mins, and hasn’t had any runway to stamp his influence as captain at this point.

Everything doesn’t suddenly change the moment he is appointed captain, but that is the start, like what 2 weeks ago,

Failure begets failure if you approach the future with such negativity as to assume because we were we therefore are and wil always be, to assume anything different is insane.

Success begets success in whatever form it takes, and you need to start believing it is possible and no matter how uphill the journey appears you need to believe you are going to make it.

Honestly, no matter how warranted and justified all the naysayers are in here, no matter how justified they feel and somehow feel they have earned the right to be that way because the team hasn’t played well enough for them.

I say poppycock.

If at first you don’t succeed.
True champions never give up, even if there is only a sliver of hope.

I too am glad the club didn’t employ a blitz poster as coach. Kudos to them for getting that right I guess.

As long as the biggest cancer in the club remains we will never go forward

Tsatas 3-4 months???

ā€œI mean, obviously last year wasn’t a great start at all. But we were probably underprepared last year. I think this year feels a lot differentā€

From the article posted above…what an indictment of the club. How can a well resourced professional football club turn up to round 1 underprepared???

To the deluded optimists, Brad is rebuilding a club for success, not just coaching a footy team. It will take time, so lets be patient. My expectations for the year ahead are very low but rising next year.

The thing I am liking about Zerrett is he’s starting to call a spade a spade. This is good.

Geez sounds like another setback for Cox, who had just started ramping up training again.

Didn’t Stewart just start full training as well?

Yeap Merrett is being a responsible leader right now, I don’t like to compare captain’s but Heppell use to defend the players too much, there’s no mates in business it’s about getting the job done and Merrett I believe will have a stealy look about him this year.

Looks like a round 3-4 comeback for Stringer.
