Part 8. Hopefully the last thread of this war. Although any sort of outcome atm looks very far away, anything could happen in future.

Europe’s defence industry must avoid rupturing industrial ties with the US as it cannot supply all of the weapons needed to meet rising demand on its own, the head of one of the region’s largest arms producers has warned. “I see the ramp-up not as just a European effort, it’s an Allied effort between all Nato countries including the US,” said Morten Brandtzæg, chief executive of ammunition producer Nammo, which is part-owned by the Norwegian and Finnish governments.”…

Trump to meet with Zelensky as Russia-Ukraine attacks intensify

“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a phone call with President Trump on Sunday that the two will meet this week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Why it matters: The meeting comes as the White House works to broker an agreement between Russia and Ukraine to take reciprocal steps to deescalate and resume negotiations — and as fighting between the two sides has intensified in recent days.

  • Zelensky’s chief negotiator and the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Rustem Umerov, told Axios he’s been working with White House envoys in recent days to organize the meeting, which is expected to happen Tuesday.

Driving the news: The meeting will take place several days after Trump signed a Russia sanctions bill and approved the biggest arms deal between the U.S. and Ukraine since assuming office — two steps Ukraine has been pushing for months.”…

EU continues talks on deal to lift sanctions on Russia-linked billionaires Usmanov and Fridman, diplomats say

  • Summary

  • France, Luxembourg pushed for controversial move, diplomats say

  • Latvia not willing so far to approve deal, sources say

  • Sanctions were imposed after invasion of Ukraine

  • Some 3,000 people and entities would remain sanctioned

“BRUSSELS, Sept 21 (Reuters) - European Union envoys will try again on Tuesday to reach a deal that could lift sanctions on Russia-linked billionaires Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman in return for keeping thousands of other individuals and businesses under ‌sanctions imposed due to the war in Ukraine, diplomats said.

The proposed deal emerged after France and Luxembourg each pushed for one of the men to be removed from the bloc’s sanctions list, apparently for domestic reasons, to the anger of some other EU countries and Ukraine.”

Kremlin rejects Le Pen/Bardella rebuke, says Russia is no threat to France

“MOSCOW, Sept 21 (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia does not pose a threat to France or any European ‌country, rejecting comments by the leadership of France’s hardline National Rally as false.

In a joint statement at the weekend, presidential candidate Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, the party’s president, said they would “never tolerate a foreign power, in this case, Russia, seeking to dictate, directly or indirectly, the policy of our country through intimidation, threats, destabilization or psychological pressure.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow did not accept the criticism.

“We do not agree ‌with this statement. Russia is not threatening France or any other country in Europe. President Putin has stated this on numerous occasions. We have no disputes with any European states that could give rise to any serious disagreements,” said Peskov.

“Russia therefore poses no threat whatsoever; it threatens no one and blackmails no one. We therefore categorically disagree with such statements. We do not accept them,” he added.”

Foreign defence suppliers. Which suppliers? Name names. The thieving low-life farkers. Trash their names and their reputations.

Ukraine says foreign defense suppliers owe country about $10.58 billion, including $1.7 billion already paid for goods delivered late or never at all

“A $22,400 legal bill stands between Ukraine and $403 million owed by foreign arms suppliers.

Learn more

Foreign defense suppliers owe Ukraine approximately $10.58 billion, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance. Of this amount, approximately $1.70 billion represents overdue receivables or funds that the Ministry of Defense has already paid to suppliers but for which the corresponding goods or services were either delivered late or not delivered at all.

Ukraine is seeking to recover these funds through the courts. However, in several cases, the statute of limitations is approaching or has already expired, potentially preventing the state from recovering the money.

A $22,400 legal bill could put $403 million in recoverable funds at risk

The government needs approximately $22,400 in legal fees to continue these proceedings. Without this funding, Ukraine could lose more than $403 million, roughly 18,000 times the amount required for legal services.

“The lack of funding for international disputes deprives Ukraine of the ability to forcibly recover these assets,”** the Ministry of Finance said.**

Funding shortfall could jeopardize legal cases and future financing

The Ministry of Defense’s overdue receivables have been growing year after year. As of 1 January 2024, they amounted to approximately $886 million, rising to approximately $1.01 billion as of 1 January 2025.

In this context, receivables are amounts owed to the Ministry of Defense by suppliers for goods not delivered or services not provided on time, even though the ministry has already paid for them.

The Ministry of Finance raised these issues amid a funding shortfall for Ukraine’s Defense Forces in 2026, which the president has put at approximately $27 billion.”.
