I’m sure it’s only coincidence that the news of players being on the gear surfaces every time there’s a CBA being negotiated with the players, and I’m sure it has nothing to do with the AFL.

What you’re seeing right now folks is negotiating tactics. The AFL, as usual - is using it’s communication specialists to sway the public against the players, and have them being seen as greedy.
The Player Association knew this was coming, and got in their pre-emptive strike a couple of weeks ago.
Nothing will come of this revelation about the Pies being on the gear with every other club, and the players will accept less than what they’re worth because they’re idiots who can’t stay off the gear and fear the AFL making it public.
