I like your earlier suggestion Ace.
Pick 6 - bid on Jones to ■■■■ up Port.
Then regardless of the outcome of that, we can talk to Collingwood about this deal.
Perfect result from here in my eyes is using 2 of the top 10 picks and trading one out in the way you’re suggesting that gets us a round 1 next year while still having a later pick this year
they’ll stil make the top 8.
True the janitor had to turn up to insecure work after getting his teeth kicked in my Dane swan and his mates. Total grub of a human being cut from the same cloth as Carey.
Buckley called out for lying again. I’m getting the popcorn out to wait for Harry O’s comments.
Will be interesting to see how the players respond to all of this. Our senior guys allegedly cracked the ■■■■■ because Bellchambers didn’t get a farewell game - how would they respond if he got the Treloar treatment?
That is amazing. Who actually thought that’d be a good idea? ■■■■■■■ morons.
No they won’t. They’re cooked. Beginning of the end for Buckley.
And this is a man who knows how to get rid of security guards.
My thoughts.
I doubt that Collingwood stuffed up their salary cap so much that they had to dump all of those players.
Didn’t Treloar take some time off footy last year because he had anxiety issues?
Maybe the club thought he might walk away from the game and this was their only option.
They were probably really close to sacking Stephenson after the gambling incident as well. Remember the rumours about the whole team being involved in the betting scandal?
Maybe something more to that?
I doubt that is the case, but if it was, it makes it an even bigger ■■■■ move.
Treloar when on the park was still producing good football. They signed him up on a huge contract in the knowledge he had mental health issues. It would essentially be them going “too hard basket” rather than “we’ll support him through this”, which would be a horrible thing for them to do.
I think they did stuff their cap up 100%. Based on:
- The recruitment of Dayne Beams, who is still contracted for another 2 seasons and they are still to organise a payout/settlement of that contract.
- Re-signing Grundy to a 7-year deal worth $1 Million a season.
- Stephenson in his 3rd year, and for the next 3 years, being on circa $600K a season.
- Because of recruiting Beams, they asked Treloar to defer payments for his contract. He agreed to heavily back-end the deal where he was owed $900K a year until 2025.
- Re-signing Darcy Moore for 2 years @ $800K a season.
- Having to re-negotiate contracts for De Goey (still to officially re-sign) and Mihocek (has signed).
Plus, booting a bloke because he’s had some anxiety issues, that’s ■■■■■■■ low. It was a conveniant excuse and they tried to nudge him out the exit and used his Mrs being up in Qld as a reason to try and engineer a deal with the Suns. When he dug his heels in they then did everything they could to burn that bridge. If it wasn’t a salary dump, then why are they paying him $300K a year NOT to play for them? They ■■■■■■ up.
Collingwood supporting mate of mine reckons Treloar was told in the rooms after the Geelong final that he was finished at Collingwood. There is something about his play they don’t like.
The Collingwood rumour mill is worse than ours. It’s all just excuses to cover up mismanagement. They threw everything at a premiership with no plan b. Now they’re ■■■■■■. Couldn’t happen to a nicer club… cept Carlton who are currently heading down the same path throwing everything they’ve got at achieving mediocrity.
I mean I could see why they don’t like him.
Treloar has an exemplary off-field record and has done a lot of work to try destigmatize mental health for young men. Certainly doesn’t fit in with the likes of DeGoey or Sidebottom, who Collingwood moved heaven and earth to support.
The Collingwood supporters are getting very heated and outright angry about the playing list management. The club is not managing this at all well. The strategy seems to be “the issue will just vanish”.
Love it, it’s great that it isn’t us. Feels good.
I know right! lol
The irony in Buckley saying the reason for Stephenson being traded is for not opening up to the group. The ■■■■ had been dishonest through this
This is an amazing implosion.
Makes Dom Sheed’s goal even more wonderful, if that was even possible.
Yeah, I thought our players leaving and talk of bad culture was seeing a club imploding. This is much much worse.
The way they have shoved players out of the club and handled this, the lies they’re telling and bridge burning going on, this is literally the kind of thing that can tear a club apart. This is really what breaks club culture. Let’s see what happens to them over the next couple of years.
