Season 2020 - Sydney

Crazy to think 5 seconds is what separated them winning a flag and not.

Swans record at home last season & a half has been shitehouse
Except of course for “flagpole sitter” game
The fortress has crumbled and not even the maggots have been able to prop it up as directed by AFL hierarchy

They’ve been three shades of ■■■■■ the last year and a half so I wouldn’t expect a good home record. Once they have the young pieces they need, which is a year or two away, then they will have the home ground advantage back and will focus on trying to get their spread right for the larger grounds.

They’re recalibrating.

That, and the ump not calling the hold in the GF…

Oh please. I can name at least 10x frees that should have gone Sydney‘a way but didn’t.

Having said that, A Sampi was very hard done by.

Kennedy is a warrior, all class, one of the modern greats, but the toll of the battles is starting to show. He can’t keep on playing the way he is used to and expect the same results. The bodies he is running into these days are getting bigger.

what did you think of the preseason hit out @Diggers ?
94 point loss to GWS who had a lot of stars out due to the all stars match.

GWS 19.7 121
SYD 3.9 27

was close until quarter time.

It was really close at the first centre bounce…

There is nothing good about a 100 point loss in a pre-season scrap or in any game really. They were very rusty and didn’t display the intensity that observers would have liked to have seen given the season is just about to start. Their centre field deficiencies that couldn’t be ignored last season appeared to have gotten worse and their forward movements were few and far between. When they did move the ball into attack it lacked system and was returned downfield way too easily time and again. None of these things should come as a surprise. What was good however was seeing S Naismith play his first game in almost three seasons and that the newbs got some real life experience of what a hard and drilled side looks like up close. When their best side is on the park they will give some sides a hard time and will even win a few. Should win 6 games and maybe a couple more to finish around 14-16th.

Yeh its hard to see the swans getting out of the bottom 4 this year.

At least they have some academy kids again which should numb the pain for supporters.

It will be a season a lot like the last. Consolidating on the positional transitioning that happened in 2019 (Aliir for Grundy for example) and getting another pre and actual season’s worth of conditioning into players like The Lizard and J Dawson. They have some really good pieces in place and if the complimentary players develop as hoped, they should start to be competitive again in the next couple of seasons.

Chin pickens.

I’ve got a tooth infection and have been loaded up on some pretty strong stuff yesterday before bed.

The result was we accounted for Sydney by about 12 goals in an elimination final last night.

I’ll be loading up again tonight to see how we go in the semi.
