weagles seem to be more adept at tanking than hawks, so hawks will need to pull out some wild cards eg rest 4 or 5 of their best players when they play the other dud teams if they decide to go all out for Harley.

Mitchell’s actually doing some good things in that midfield.

Day and Nash at the coal face are inspired choices.
They might win some games for the remainder and cost themselves Harley Reid.

Mitchell just tested positive to Covid so all the playing group is on watch.

Legitimate or just an excuse to tank to the Eagles for the Harley Reid cup?

Going to take a hell of a tank to lose to West Coast.

They are so up for the challenge though. AFL should come out this week saying pick 1 is now based on a lottery system.

They need to mate he a lottery. Don’t reward this s***stain of a club

An easier solution would be to rejig the fixture and reschedule their match to the bye.

Or immediately drop them to the VFL, move them to Tasmania permanently and rebrand the entire club as the Tassie Devils, then have them re-enter the AFL in 2028.

Yeah he’s doing such an outstanding job…

The Hawks aren’t tanking. They’re just ■■■■. They’ll still be ■■■■ for years after they get Harley too. They’re going to be rebuilding into the Tasmania expansion years, and those drafts will be seriously compromised. At this point Mitchell looks like a ■■■■ coach too.

I believe he has been struggling with “groin soreness”. Hopefully not OP for him.

Having dinner with a Hawks supporter. He’s adamant their current list has more upside than our current list, and they’ll win another flag before Essendon does.

Pure speculation of course, I understand that, but genuine question. Do we rate their current list? I really don’t know them well enough.

Their list is rather young. They’ve sold off most assets that could have been sold off to other clubs. Their strategy is to tank as hard as possible.

We’re rebuilding in a different way. Our club 12 months ago was a shambles so it makes sense for BDB to see what our boys are capable of with the right support behind the scenes. It’s not known yet if we’ll gut the list or rebuild on the fly. It must be stressed however, that we lined up very young this week vs the Tigers, and a few of the younger players stood up.

I daresay that there are very few future premiership players on either list, but the longer-term strategies are different.

Hawk fans have delusions of grandeur after knocking off an Eagles side that 15 other clubs would have also smashed by 20 goals this weekend.

They’ve had a much better culture of success in the last 20 years which is their avenue to back up their cockiness but they are a mess.

Years off it.

At no stage in Clarkson’s tenure (2005-2021) were they as awful as they are now. Even just before he arrived (last days of Schwab), they weren’t this low.

Yeah. Hawks fans feel permanently confident because they haven’t been tortured by two decades of failure. It’s about to start though. They have a few good youngsters but a whole bunch of bog average
