The media are probably some what to blame for the decline in mental health of player and former players but that is a story they won’t run
Happy to be corrected if this is the case
Didn’t he have bad epilepsy issues that pretty much ruined his career?
Yes, diagnosed in 2020 and then Freo advised they wouldn’t give him a new offer so he quit immediately.
Gonna hug my boys who are “above average” junior footy players a little bit tighter this afternoon. Such a shame to see so many victims of the system.
29 so young
RIP Cam
I lost a mate who had those issues. Had a seizure in his sleep and never woke up.
Everyone seemingly is focused on his mental issues but perhaps a medical condition led to him passing.
Lost a mate that suffered from epilepsy as well. Had a fit on a jet ski and drowned.
Most of the articles have the help line stuff at the bottom, that generally ascribes suicide as the reason. Not always, and it may not be the reason here, but generally it means the police have indicated that to them.
Fark mate thats awful .
Epilepsy is horrific
Yeah, it’s surprising, isn’t it? The HS being disrespectful I mean…
RIP… way too young. At that age it’s tragic anyway, but given the circumstances, especially so…
Dhurrkay was some time ago (2005 - car crash).
Yep. We came in on our jet ski’s and he wanted to stay out a bit longer. By the time we got to shore and looked back to see what he was doing he was off the ski. Got him back to shore but it was too late.
Didn’t know that. Handy little player
Terrible news. Footy may seem like the promise land and bright lights, but reaching the top level is only a band-aid for young men with mental health struggles.
He had other issues as well…family members were closely involved at South Fremantle when he was there…they spoke openly of those other issues.
You wonder why players have mental health issues with rubbish like this
Breaking Peter Sumich news
