I mean… Hawks got the worst of Clarkson in his last few years at Hawthorn. they completely fell apart after those flags in pretty spectacular fashion. he had no more tricks up his sleeve and the hawks absolute rubbish recruiting in the later period did him no favors. then you add in all the political issues behind closed doors with kenett, mitchell, the racism allegations on the horizon. he has nothing left to offer on field, but off field hes just baggage and skeletons in the closet. im thankful every fking day that he turned the essendon job down.
Honestly the first half actually sounded like Sheedy as well, just change the names…

I’m still laughing about the fact that NM actively traded Clarkson at the end of 1995 (won the flag the next year) … and he ended up having an unhappy couple of seasons at Melbourne.
Played 93 games over 9 seasons at NM. Including a disgraceful role vs Carlton in a pre-season game in London (1987).
He gets announced as coach as it’s “Welcome Back Clarko!” , “Clarko Is Back!” , “The Messiah Returns!” … like he gave a ■■■■ about them for 25 years.
Very sad club. They can stay bottom forever for all I care.
If Clarkson lasts all 5 years of his contract, it will be a miracle. That racism saga last year has drained him I reckon and he has completely lost his sparkle.
Agreed. Its a common story for coaches that are well past their use by date. But at least Sheeds knew when to step aside when he took the GWS job. 2 years to set up the foundations of the club and help develop their crop of kids. and last i checked, he wasnt telling young indigeonous kids to abort their babies and break up their longstanding relationships.
Probably both. From the AFL there would have to be an appetite to get rid of a Victorian club, similar to the AFL’s motive in helping to end Fitzroy. They let them die on the vine. So in relation to North they’d have to cut the umbilical cord and remove their financial assistance and then over time they’ll simply fold. Or the AFL could put them in a position where if they didn’t agree to a potential relocation they’d make life very difficult for them.
Keep em in. It’s so fun having this huge win streak against them.
They lose their grand final whenever we play them, as their biggest rivals and their 5 members lose their minds.
I’d have about 12 other teams I’d desperately want to beat over them but I do look forward to the north games each year. Crowd is 80% Essendon supporters too no matter who’s home game it is.
