I’m a 25 year member. I live in Hobart. I’ve been a bit “meh whatever” about a Tassie team as I’d always thought that I’d always be a Bomber supporter.
Now, not so much.

Fark me… a big NO to fkin buckley as coach!!! Cant believe ppl would want him… there are already too many ‘spin doctors’ at Ess… he is a champion at that. How long was he coach of cwood? Even with all the special treatment they get from afl, umps etc … no pship.

So so so much this. It’s ludicrous reading about how some people here are saying we should be offering Hurley a coaching job? Or how we actually gave Bellchambers a gig! Once their time is up, we thank them for services and then thats it. We only bring people in who know what an elite organisation looks like. cos there are very few at the club who know what this looks like, and even then, they have been unable to turn the ship around. The club is rotten

I’d love to know what former players think of the standards at Essendon when they’re traded out to other clubs. I’ve heard Shiel was shocked at how bad the standard of training was when he arrived.
I don’t want to be perceived to be defending the club at all costs. I am far from a clapper. But wasn’t this bloke a) a runner and b) gone years before Rutten arrived? Not sure this sort of crappy scuttlebutt is worth anything.

It’s certainly a cultural issue. I was feeling pretty good after Merrett signed on and the year that followed that - in hopes maybe a gear had been switched with Rutten/co. I didn’t expect finals this year however but felt good about us moving forward at least, to get out of this funk we always seem to be in…
Someone that works at the club before round one said in passing that “They don’t want it enough” when asked how the dons would do this year…Feels like that’s pretty accurate currently. Not sure how that can be changed however.
But it’s not clear. It’s hedging bets.

Isaac Smith would have been an incredible player for us with his work ethic and experience.
Nah, I can’t cop that. It would be exceedingly simple, and we’ve seen multiple clubs go down that route.
I agree it’s not something I can imagine someone like Brasher saying - but that’s my point.

Then it’s up to the coaches to find out who those are that don’t want it enough, and get rid of them.
