This is my thinking. It would be great to get a real honest insight from a guy that has come from another club (say Kelly, Wright, Shiel, Stringer for example) on how Essendon compares to their previous club in terms of professionalism, expectations, training standards etc. I reckon that would provide some really valuable information as to where our club is really at. Would be good to get same from guys that have recently left for other clubs too (Daniher, Saad, Fantasia).
Or maybe ask Goddard. He knew we had problems. He tried his best to get through to people, even giving the pretzels a beating.
They were being lazy, they were just laying on the table.
Reckon Goddard would be smashing pretzels waching us yeterday haha
Get him back at the club please loved his passion and wasn’t affraid to berate his team mates
The same Neil Craig that had the Crows in back to back Prelim finals?
heppell and the players have learnt from xav … Just pr spin some bullshit and enough idiots will buy it.
just like the learnings bullshit that got mocked to ■■■■.
They don’t actually hurt cos they are conditioned to simply “move on” and not take it too seriously, you know like the “don’t let the highs get to high, and don’t let the lows get to low” bullshit.
it’s all just words, cheap easy and meaningless words to regurgitate year after year to pretend they give a ■■■■.
if they actually did give a ■■■■, the exact same ■■■■■■■ problems would not be so prevalent still.
losing is one thing, losing the exact same ■■■■■■■ way as 2019, 2020, part of 2021 first half of 18 etc is just taking the ■■■■.
We need Hurley to retire today. As a club we pander to our players which is a clear hangover from the supplements debacle. Hurley will play 1 game then disappear, let’s call it now. Heppell needs to step down as Captain and Jackets need to be sacked today.
Tough, ruthless decisions that will never happen.
I think we should relocate to Morwell. Then, oneday whilst theyre training, wait till theyre all asleep (this is what I suspect they do at training), then sneakily bulldoze the entire club into the open cut, bury the lot, seal it up and pretend it never happened.
I think it’s sad that we have been reduced to discussing the clubs performance as an entirety instead of the fun side of tactics, individual players, etc.
Just need a 100 point loss to trot out the old callback to 1992
The final game Sheedy coached and Hird played in was the last time I felt proud. Lucas’ massive last quarter. That was the end of it all, been lots of promises and exciting moments amounting to nothing since then.
I only go to two or three games a year, yesterday I attended and I was disgusted with their efforts and just so disheartened with the fact that so many players seem to have gone backwards. We are playing a brand of football that we just didn’t see last season, it’s so painful supporting this club.
What destroys you even more is that ■■■■■■■ Hawthorn and Collingwood have been successful had a couple of ■■■■ years and are now looking way more competent than us.
20 ■■■■■■■ years of this ■■■■, it does your head in, I’m just gutted.
This is a club that let David Evans just waltz back in. The man contributed to the destruction of this joint and sold it up the river to protect his business interests. The bloke is also probably a crook, but he has money, so it’s all good. They sacrificed James Hird of all people, for this scumbag. What does this mean? In my opinion it demonstrates the club has no balls, no principles and no soul. They are too lazy to follow correct processes, because let’s face it, they don’t give a ■■■■. On field success is not necessarily a priority to the boys club. “Oh yeah that’s shiny, go get it. It’ll keep our stooge fans happy for 5 minutes.” When we stop putting money in, then maybe they’ll pay attention, because that’s all that matters.
Honestly, ■■■■ you EFC.
Set a bomb off in the joint. This club needs to be gutted. From the top down people are at the club that don’t really give a ■■■■ about it. Turn up, happy to collect a wage but not really invested in being part of a successful club on the field. At the end of the day, it’s a job for these people. And we’d all like to be on Easy Street in our employment wouldn’t we? Turn up, get paid good money, don’t have to extend yourself too much, be nice and comfortable. Some of these players would be happy just being on an AFL list, getting paid accordingly, happy to take advantage of the trappings of being an AFL footballer but not really bothered about getting the best out of themselves and making the sacrifices required to experience team success. Anyone who has that attitude should not be welcome at the Essendon Football Club.
First off, we need a board spill. Brasher, Campbell and everyone down have to go. Time wasters the lot of them. Dodoro is the next one. Been at the club too long. From a list management perspective it needs a fresh set of eyes. Maybe someone else will see that drafting midget midfielders with questionable kicking skills and selecting KPP who weigh 70kg and take 3-4 years to get to a point where we realise they’re ■■■■ isn’t the way to go. I couldn’t care less if every single player was put up for trade. Gut the list, it won’t get us anywhere except 7th-8th and another Elimination Final embarrassment at best.
Coaching, player development, strength and conditioning needs a major overhaul. We have to be AFL worst in that area. We apparently have a great group of assistant coaches. Caracella, Giansiracusa, Tapping, all highly rated and came from environments that have experienced recent success. They they come here and we look just as clueless from a tactical perspective as we did when Worsfold was in charge. Rutten is on very thin ice for me. Even if we don’t sack him this year, he enters 2023 as probably the most under pressure coach in the AFL. If the club has any balls it will at least put some feelers out to Clarkson and see if he has any interest. It might be a 1% chance, but the worst thing he can say is no. There is a world where Truck is sacked part way through or at the end of 2023. Whatever gloss there was at the end of 2021 has completely worn off 5 weeks into this season.
I don’t think we can completly gut the list we will need to keep some senior players cant have a team full of draftees but i agree with everything else
I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to post my rants and read the rants on others that this service offers.
Otherwise i would be in therapy.
What use are the senior players? Provide “leadership”? Show the kids how to coast through an AFL career, go through the motions and not give a ■■■■? I mean it when I say it. Every single player on the list I would consider trading. I have zero emotional investment in these ■■■■■ because they clearly have no interest, and are not prepared to make the sacrifices required to be a success as a team. Say plenty, deliver nothing.
Serious question though - which senior players are worth keeping? Its this group which are supposed to form the nucleus of our team & provide some level of consistent performance but right now they are the worst group of 27+'s in the league. Shiel, Tippa, Hep, Stewart, Flip, Smith Cutler, Stringer, Hind, Hurley & Kelly. Which of them would you bank on winning their position this week? This is the real list problem we have & its not simply saga related. We drafted like shyte before the saga & Pig is the only player we lost who’d be getting a game for us now.
Xavier will never have the nerve to sack Dodoro or even Rutten if it comes to it. He is too invested in both.
We need a football person, not a marketing guy, running the club who can come in and simply throw out the rubbish and bring in the right people.
We need to completely rebuild our list management, scouting and recruiting department once Dodoro has gone. Just look at how Sydney and Melbourne have drafted and traded over the last five years. We are so hit and miss with our drafting it’s laughable.
Finally, if Clarkson is available at the end of the year and we are bottom 3 then sorry Truck, you gotta go. You will have had three years in the senior role (one of those in a joint role with Woosha) as well as a couple of years in the assistant role. With so many top draft picks you can’t be going backwards. You were an unproven senior coach so again, an unbelievably stupid decision by Xavier.
X ■■■■ the bed when Adelaide sacked Pyke at the end of 2019 and they came sniffing for Truck. They didn’t want to lose him, so came up with the handover idea. It kept Truck at EFC, locked in our next coach, thereby not having to go through an actual selection process, plus it avoided a payout of Worsfold on the last year of his contract and spare X the embarrassment of sacking a guy 18 months after handing him a contract extension. Absolute farce. This clown needs to go before he ruins the club any further…
