Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

All three of those things generate income for the club, so they aren’t going to stop.

Not nearly as much revenue as being a successful ON-FIELD AFL Club!

Yehnah. Those thing are of very little bearing to anything lol.

You can’t ban players talking to the media anyway. Gosh, imagine the stories that’d generate.

3 steps on how to get the AFLPA’s outcry

What about the podcast?

That show is so bad, I feel like it’s a punishment for them anyway.

BAN IT!

We will isolate them all on a swamp island until they’re actually ready to be a footballer!. Everyday they will run around the swamp with Truck on their backs whispering noncoherrant wisdoms in their ear everytime they think it’s too hard

So many amazing wins… we were winning interstate for the first time in forever… the boys clearly played for Hirdy… the bloody loved him. They were willing to run through walls for him.

I actually think now is the perfect time to bring him back… the saga is behind us… most of the media have moved on… Gil the Dill is moving on… everyone is media fatigued after COVID. I can’t see many people having too much to say about it… yes it will be headlines for a bit… but I actually think there is some understanding in the media world that they went too far and that it got well out of hand.

I’d have him back in a heart beat.

it’s really clear there’s no cohesion of strong connection among the “whole” team, there’s some small friendship groups, but you just see guys like Cutler treating the whole thing as some job he can half ■■■, which causes massive division, why we recruit soft paycheque footy players is the real big question

Interesting, he may know, considering why he ■■■■■■ off from c—wood.

I wish all clubs would do that.

There is a contractual obligation for players to be made available to the media for interview. The club/player can choose who fronts up, but someone has to be there.

They should do it like that NFL players who just kept answering every question with “I’m just here so I don’t get fined”

What’s also wrong is the lack of 150 year merchandise. No posters, stickers, plaques etc, just a few tops and hats. Disappointing in a landmark year.

The pea hearts were also around in 2010 when Lecras kicked 12.
It really has been a long period of time where the average supporter has been simply in a state of trepidation just knowing another cnt. of a performance is just around the corner.
It used to be different though, after the humiliation against the Swans in 87 the Dons played a GF in 90. The humiliation against the Hawks in 92 (the worst you can possibly endure) was followed by a flag in 93.
These days after a humiliation it’s a yea na from the Captain- a tryer but nowhere near a Selwood type.

Sheedy was appointed through a competitive process.
I am not sure Hird and Thompson can be classed as a success.

Yeah nah… you can’t say Hird was a capable coach. He wasn’t there long enough to make an evaluation.
Nothing to say he was the correct person for the job. He may well have been. But if you don’t test people in an open market you will never know.
And he had zero experience.

If EFC were going to go without a process, as they did, Thompson is the person they should have gone for. He had the runs on the board.
But they should have had a proper process.
And they should have had a proper process to recruit everyone else. If they had we would never have got in the trouble we did.
