Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

Does everyone still think woosha was the problem? Lol

The end of 2004 new contract to Sheedy was the big fail.
That was the opportunity to ignore organic options.

Woosha being recruited was a symptom of the problem.
The solution is always just over there :point_right::point_right:
There never seems to be a concerted effort to take a good hard look at the club from the top down.
Any other board and CEO that presided over this continuing debacle would be long gone.
There needs to be a complete review from the top down by someone not associated with AFL.
Get someone in from a successful franchise in some other sport from some other country to get a fresh perspective.
AFL s far too insular.

Has Craig Bellamy committed to Melbourne Storm?

Any chance we could get him in some sort of advisory capacity, even part time? Because that dude clearly knows about what makes successful teams.

Modern day Essendon is just a ■■■■ football club that has NFI what it’s doing.

If not for Sheedy, Essendon would barely be a skid mark on the underpants of the professional era competition.

Brace yourself because we will easily, EASILY go another 2 or 3 decades without seeing success again.

Hmm… I wonder why that could be?

To be honest, this is the level of shitness I was expecting from us last year.

Time for a New Brasher Video.

The club is not going to employ anyone that will stand up to Xavier and the board and tell them how it really is, they will never initiate an independent review.

Might need a spill to force the old boys club out once and for all.

Good luck with that.

EFC members voting for reform are even softer than our players’ “efforts”

How many games has he got to 200?

I remember when Cousins and Lio were voted in…it can happen.
Actually, would love to hear the honest truth on why they are not still on the board or why they did not remain there longer than what they did.
Wasn’t Lio pushed out for a token Sheedy appointment ??

The club should make a Godfather offer to Craig Bellamy to come in as Head Of Football, and all things on field, including recruitment.
Wonderful strong leader who does not tolerate mediocrity or underachievers. Half the list and half the off field staff would be gone by the start of October.

That or make a play for Clarkson at the end of the year.

It’s not the coach that we need to sort one way or the other. It’s getting the right captain post-Heppell. We have until now and the end of the year to work this out.

Cousins went for re-election.
The fans in their wisdom selected Sean Wellman ahead of him.
That’s the problems with fans voting. Ex-players nominating are an easy selection because they have the emotional attachment to their playing days without any critical analysis of what they actually bring the board.
I thought Lio had had enough and didn’t want to stand for re-election. I’d say she enjoys being an Essendon supporter again (even if 5e team is performing well) and I’m sure she follows our womens team very closely.

Think they might have been encouraged not to try too hard to be re-elected.

I long for the days of Woosha. We lost a lot, but we’ve been doing that for 20 years, so we can’t lay that at his feet. At least with Woosha, we lost with flair, run and dare and a few thrills. Watching the team stop, slow the tempo then kick to a six man contest on the boundary - always the same boundary, never a cross - (and usually to a ruckman that didn’t take a single mark) was just excruciating.

If nothing else, let’s get back to the days of entertaining losses.

What about we just get Clarko to do the same thing and hire him.
