Horrendous.
Not a talent issue.
Injuries are a problem but the root cause is the senior clique who are happy to get paid and that’s it.

Essendon is just another footy club (a not very good one at that)… it used to be a great club that made you feel proud to support. Not just because of onfield success but because of the off field work they did as well. Not any more… they completely dropped the bundle on Indigenous players… we would have to be the least active in this area now.
There is nothing blue collar about the team nor the club in general. The nice shiny corporate image facade they love to project is sickening… it is the whitest of white privileged club in the league. Recruiting risk free players to play bruise free footy.

I mentioned this about indigenous players in another thread last week.
You need them as they provide x factor, high skill, a difference in the team, one percentage plays go up.
As successful teams have 3 or more in their team.
Davey twins next year will be welcome additions along with Bobby Hill
Was last year just a honeymoon year with a new coach? Similar to Woosha’s 2nd year when we had the players back.
I knew it was too good to be true.
Players are really mentally weak. Umpires are against them…blatantly and the opposition crank up their heat…these plays just surrender…they go weak in their knees.

Going by history since knights this year was very predictable after the new coach sugar hit of last year.
They all get paid regardless of performance.
I take pride in my work.
The same cannot be said of the Club.

even Richmond suck playing the Richmond system and we are playing a bad approximation of the Richmond system.

Really? In all honesty I would really love to know what goes on at that ■■■■■■■ joke of a soulless joint that is ‘the hangar’. If we honestly worked on defence then we are more screwed than what I first thought, with what I’ve seen in the first month. Whatever the club said it did during the off-season take it with a grain of salt.

Until we fix what ever the ■■■■ is going on take the flags down and put all the trophies in storage. Sick of this 20 years of ■■■■ being hidden by “history”.

What club appoints a coach with no process and then sacks the person who appointed him because they weren’t doing a great job.
Whether Rutten is good is still debatable and he may turn out to be great but seriously great organisations follow proper recruitment processes.
He may still have been the one but he had 0 competition.
