Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

This morning I sort of find it funny. We spent the whole off-season working on defense and we are basically ranked 18th for all the defensive aspects of the game.

It’s bizarre. Normally when you work on something it shows at least a little bit. So far it doesn’t show at all, even just a little bit.

That is so bad it is actually funny.

X hasn’t been here for 20 years

Check the facts over the past twenty years. The only thing that has not changed is Jackets.

Chair, Board, CEO, Coach etc has had constant change since Sheedy was sacked. We need to win games not more change.

Agree, all you can do at this point is just laugh. It’s sad and pathetic but that’s where we are at.

Essendon FC needs to re-focus as follows:

  1. Make the AFLW team it’s primary concern
  2. Bring back an Esports team
  3. Disband the mens team, and trade out the entire list at seasons end

Incremental change doesn’t change culture. Essendon needs a proverbial bomb under it. It needs radical change from the top down.
It needs to be completely upended and rebuilt.
Anything else is window dressing.

Can you imagine Bellamy dealing with the likes of Sam Draper and Nik Cox? Yikes!

Time for the fossil to do another “review” …. no doubt someone not named Campbell or Dodoro will be the fall guy.

Essendon is a VFL level team stuck at a level of competition that clearly exceeds our capabilities.

We won’t have the most soon so maybe then it will change.

In my view since 2001, there have been significant cultural changes at EFC, mostly for the worse, often from individuals acts or just that ■■■■■ happens.

My only interest is really the culture of winning games, and I don’t care how they get there.

I’d argue the opposite. He’s the one thing that hasn’t changed and the list is still woeful. It’s laughable he’s still there, which is what the league have been doing for a decade.

Remember the aborted attempt to introduce a basketball team? What happened there? Talk about focusing on the wrong priorities.

Think that is what I said.

Of course.

But that’s only going to happen if someone else puts together a ticket.
Until then, it’ll be the same parade of short term reactions and scapegoats.

What are you on about?

You are suggesting that nothing has changed and I disagree. Change is not always positive.
