The ability to line your own pockets in these industries doesn’t mean you possess skills transferable to anything else. Yet, the Caseys and Brashers, the Littles, the Welshes, Thorburns etc. of the club, think they can run a not-for-profit footy club because they’ve made money… in property and finance… as nonsensical an argument as you can get.

Yeah, we should find someone who has experience running a not-for-profit where money is raised not as an end in itself, but to fund the primary mission of the organization. Maybe someone who has experience in like…. a church or something….

Then there should be a board spill. The existing one’s can nominate themselves but member choose. No more appointment for friends.

I have a different view on the Board. I do not actually care who is on it, as long as they are Essendon Members and love winning as much as me.

The only issue is our inability to win games, finals and a flag. Scott and the Footy Department have the biggest infuence on this, so I am happy to wait and see where we are at after round 6 next year.

No one doubts the most influential of these Essendon Members wants to win… The issue is their egotistical belief that they need to be involved and influential in the footy dept, for that to happen.

After 2015 and the top up year, we needed a coach in caretaker mode who could keep the team together.
Problem was that the caretaker period of maintenance went on too long
