Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 3, August 2022)

He’s only been here 2 weeks. We’ll soon get rid of any integrity he had.

Who do you mean? Or more of those faceless mega rich , who hide in the shadows, bullying and harassing Board Members, Management, Coaches and Players.

I thought they’ve been running us since, you know, the other thing.

You’re only giving Scott 6 weeks? Sounds like some Sheedy bs to me

This thread title will do nicely thanks.

Let’s just start with the obvious and well documented… Jackson/Knights, Evans/Hird, Little/Worsfold, Little (X)/Rutten and now maybe Barham/Scott if reports are to be believed… all coaches appointed independently by businessman who’ve never played AFL.

Key footy decisions made by egotistical ■■■■■… fark due diligence and process at Essendon.

should move the club out east again in celebration

OK, I gave Sheedy 8 rounds in 1981. He was 1 win after six rounds, then won the next 15 straight. Guess I can give Scott 8 rounds as well.

We need to find sheedy and hird gigs at other clubs quick smart. The problem is their egos are attached to being in control at EFC.

WITH A BIG MAN

Not sure any of that is true, but if it is, they were all Club Presidents/CEO and the Board appointed the Coaches, as per the Club Constitution. That is all the process that is required.

You are paranoid

You’re not alone but geez you post some patronising crappola here.

The Board makes senior appointments at Essendon… wow, you don’t say? Blitz is so lucky to have someone so business savvy providing such insights.

Jackson alone made the call on Knights over Hardwick.

Evans brought in his inexperienced mate Hird.

Little thought Worsfold would be a good stabilising influence after his farked-up decision to drag Essendon through a fight with ASADA/WADA.

X and Rutten…

All farked decisions by farked individuals that set the club back decades.

No. It’s not. It might be all that is needed according to the constitution but it is not in the best interests of anyone except those on the inside, to not have a good independent process with some integrity.
There is a reason very good process delivers good results.
And Essendons failure of process over the past 20 years is evident in the complete failure of the club to achieve anything but comic relief for the rest of the competition and its supporters.

How about the question whether a large group of supporters/members (including me) will forgive Hird for being coach during the most shameful off-field saga in our history that we are still paying for to this day? (Shut up deniers who deny anything happened or if so he shouldn’t be held at least semi-accountable)

I’m not sure if this is media building this issue up more than reality but the ego of this guy, who was already given the coaching gig on a platter at the end of 2010 and made a mess of it, to expect to rock up uncontested for a second go is absolutely laughable.

Do yourself a favour James and tell your media laggers to put a sock in it for a few weeks (at the very least) and let the club move on. Last time I checked it’s not “Hird FC”.

You see nothing

Everything has gone wrong with the club in nearly a decade is Hird’s fault?
Only deniers would say otherwise?

Never realised he wielded such power

Did I mention before that one of the biggest problems at Essendon is the lack of respect shown to each other. Too frequently sides are taken, ears are blocked and denigrating mouths are opened. Half our problem is intolerance.

Nowhere in my post did I say everything that has gone wrong at the club is Hird’s fault. It certainly isn’t. But how he has managed to escape any sort of criticism from an unhealthily large section of the supporter base is truly disturbing and as others have said… cult-like.

I could very confidently assume he didn’t set out to deliberately “cheat” any system but the fact he was coach (and clearly had a lot of power and say at the time) and this was all still allowed to occur is diabolical. Yes I know this isn’t a “saga” thread.

Oh I think he copped a bit. There are plenty though who think he has ‘done his time’ and would welcome his talents back at the club. They’re not cultists.
