are we still returning to the 70s was worse than now argument?
Yes.
I find it reassuring when boomers tell us it was worse once upon a time.
âKids these days donât know how good theyâve got it.
Back in my day, Essendon was sh*t, and you had to stand on beer cans to see the gameâ
yeah the worst period of time for a club in afl history short of being deregistered was bad, but did you ever hear the tale of the darth 70s the terrible?
I have no idea who this is . And no interest in knowing.
No way, the BigM girls were sensationalâŚ
When you had recent success like the Hawks its easy for them to embrace being near the bottom for a for few years.
Would be a totally different approach and feel if Hawks had fark all success like us for 20 plus years
Essendon fans are sick and tired of waiting and the same garbage excuses over the years from the club they want success now.
If I ran this bloody football club I would banish each of those 16 shiny cups dominating the entry lobby of the Hangar to a bloody dusty attic never to be spoken of again until we actually become something more than irrelevant.
We are a â â â â â â expansion club with no soul, no discernible DNA, no place, no identity. Hanging onto those 16 cups is just a pathetic grab at relevancy.
Never before in Sporting history of this country has a sporting club needed a total Re-start.
Older???
I donât think any older supporter advocates the half-arsed Casper Milquetoast playing style we have had the last ten years,
Agreed!
Scott and Co will turn it around.
Hmmm⌠what did you say about Knights, Worsher and that other bloke âturning it aroundâ.
I donât think ANYONE with any credibility said the 70s were worse. If you think otherwise, name names: provide some evidence.
Most if not all of us who have a longer view of the history of the club have been saying for at least ten years that this era is much worse than the 70s.
Carlton have a longer drought then us should they banish thier shiny cups too
Mum has told me and my brother the 70s were shithouse, but this patch is worse. Itâs barren, thereâs no hiding from it.

Carlton have a longer drought then us should they banish thier shiny cups too
If that honestly gives you some comfort then good for you. If you think we are any better than Carlton has been over the last 25 years then we are truly screwed.
Stop making excuses. Stop looking for get out of jail cards. Stop compromising. Forget bloody Carlton, forget every other club. Focus the heat on Essendon and just demand more.
I guess youâre okay with the fans must be patient line that even got rolled out again as recently as a couple of weeks ago by Madden.
How about we just start playing a full season of competitive football.
Nope you are wrong if anything im quite the opposiste
Reckon im the most vocal on here about the lack of success the club has endured and us wanting to get to 17

Hiding the premiership cups is going to achieve this? Iâd say itâs a reach for another easy fix.
The point is that the constant reminder of past success prevents the ultimate come to Jesus moment. Weâre just not that good . Equal worst home and away record since 2001. Rolling out the Premiership cups is just propaganda now. It means nothing. That Carlton game with the cups on show was just embarrassing

That Carlton game with the cups on show was just embarrassing
That i agree with but
The club proudly displaying its 16 cups shouldnt be a factor in trying to achive success.
If we need the club to put away the cups for the team to get a kick up the bum then shut the club down.

Hiding the cups in a janitors closet isnât going to change our history. I really enjoyed seeing the cups up close before the game too.
I think you are looking for an easy fix. There wonât be a come to Jesus moment. It will be a lot of hard work over a sustained period of time.
Those were my old manâs days. He would tell me stories of post-â65 while I watched the â84 flag for umpteenth time on VHS. He waited 17 years and I never could believe we would get anywhere near that again. But here we are. I know just how all the old boy felt.
