Talk about an uneven playing field.
She is still officially a doper, on her record for life, automatic if test positive ( except if spiked etc). She took a supplement that contained a banned substance. Just got a reduction in her suspension because she didnāt know it contained Ligandrol - and seemingly same supplement - which she had been promoting- did not previously contain Ligandrol.
Anyone seen aunty donnaās house of fun? Episode 3 has a great asada skit.
The world of sports science is rife with scientific evidence that the Prohibited List is a farce. WADA/ASADA claim that many of the substances āhave the potential to be performance enhancingā
Eminent Medical Doctor, surgeon, Masters in Sports Science, Masters in Psychology and currently studying Law, was quoted as saying, during the Essendon saga that, if you applied the criteria used to qualify a substance as PE then water and sunlight would be on the PL.
David Howman and John Fahey traveled the world informing everyone how important it was to āget the right decisionā in the Essendon case where there was no positive test. The precedent of a guilty verdict for a non-analytical case was vital - and the CAS delivered.
The problem we have in 2020 is that the regulators, politicians, law makers, media, sports administrators look at what happened to the Essendon players through a 2020 lens. All those groups mentioned above would tell us that āthings are different nowā. An Essendon like case will never happen again. Pardon my cynicism but when money, power and self interest are part of the equation ā ā ā ā ā will happen and somebody has to take the fall.
Mark Knopflerās great song says " punish the monkey let the organ grinder go". So true.
Does saline at half-time on a thirty degree day āhave the potential to be performance enhancingā?
Eating food is definitely at risk of being performance enhancing.
Saline plus additives ?
I would imagine the company maker of the supplement Jack was advertising will be helping her in every way possible. As if, a high profile Olympic Athlete would be taking a supplement sheās advertising across the world which contains illegal things in it. It is to ridiculous to imagine someone doing it with scrutiny on athletes today, it simply makes no sense whatsoever. Yet, when did some of things ASADA and WADA do, make sense. When the Organisation has an attitude an is thinking this person/s is guilty of doing something illegal. It obviously changes the way the Organisation looks at and deals with all athletes as an innocent people, until proven guilty. Its hard to un-prove something someone else has taken on board as fact. That sort fight is an expensive, up-hill, almost un-winnable, battle. As we, well know.
The Company, who made the supplement is also under intense scrutiny as well. I am sure we havenāt heard to the end of this one. WADA is almost making it impossible for athletes to remain in their sport. It is so difficult having to check everything all the time while companies are changing their labels and what they put into things. Iām am not an athlete but I have an extreme allergy and have to do these these things constantly. It is time consuming doing it and that constant fear is ever present. I think athletes who want to keep competing are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Iād just like to reiterate that asada and wada can get absolutely ā ā ā ā ā ā .
A plague on both their houses.
Mike Tyson smoked marijuana right before his comeback fight against fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr on Sunday (AEDT).
Tyson, a legal cannibis mogul in his post-boxing life, reportedly smokes about $US40,000 ($54,000) worth of marijuana per month.
He made no exception for his boxing return, in which the fighters were tested for performance enhancers but marijuana was apparently not on the banned list.
āAbsolutely, yes,ā he said when asked it heād inhaled pre-fight.
āListen, I canāt stop smoking. I smoked during fights. I just have to smoke. Iām sorry. Iām a smoker. I smoke every day. I never stopped smoking.ā
Ok, but isnāt marijuana banned by wada? Or was it no one was willing to confront him face to fave about it?
There are some funny WADA rules involving thresholds, which I think got further relaxed for comp day in the latest WADA rules for 2021. Degrees of tolerance for cocaine and weed. Rules may also vary for different sports
The match would also neeed to be run by a sporting body subject to WADA rules
Wild that coke and weed are in the same category here.
Senate Committee examining sports rorts complains that failure of disclosure by relevant authorities prevented the Committee from doing its job.
Now, about that Senate Estimates Committee , through the efforts of Labor and LNP, which shut down disclosure on E34 - and encouraged ASADA to pervert FOI rules.
I have posted several times that the LNP and the ALP were always going to shut down discourse on the EFC34 because both sides have skeletons in the closet - And this is why you will never have a fully fledged parliamentary enquiry or Royal Commission.
Warwick Hadfield tweeting about an ABC RN report this morning covering an extensive sworn statement by Dank on Essendon. W saying something big.

Iām assuming this will form part of Bruce Francisās AAT case hearing happening end of Jan IIRC to try and void ASADAās entire investigation. In that it should never have gone ahead at all as they had nothing.
This is david v goliath stuff but if that happens itll be truly amazing.
Ben mcdivett, gil mclachlan, andrew demetriou, caroline wilson and mike fitzpatrick would all have to eat humble pie. Its ridiculous Essendon even received the penalties years before Wadas verdict.
Heres hoping.
It will be said what took him so long , after all his promises that he would clear the players?
Also , it might be said that, if the NT court ends up convicting him, he could be prepared to wear perjury charges.
I would not be too hopeful, much as I want it to be. Although the likes of Warner could follow through with further exposes.
Props to anyone who spells it āg-a-o-l.ā
