Spec/changes for Freo game - Sat 24th June 7.25pm @ Optus (in Perth)

I honestly not sure what’s the norm but Langford made a point to say they have been training at the level of match loads. Plus some top up running.

Hopefully that assists in their preparation.

Scott should really mess with Freo. Name the side as:

In: Mass
Out: Phillips

Then go a little crazy - bring Phillips in as a late change. Get this though (this is the best part)… make Mass the sub!

rip parish, been real.

Hopefully we can buckle the trend.

Are you really trying to make us cautious of this game after how positive you have been all year about us? If we lose to this rabble we don’t deserve to be in the 8. GWS have been consistent the Dockers are woeful atm

But why should it be tight? They just lost by 70 to GWS. Why are you guys underrating us so much? So if we lose it’s all ok? We should absolutely expect to win this game and if we lose we should be really disappointed. I will be. This is a huge chance to make a real charge as opposed to slipping into 8th

No games easy, upsets do occur. Even money game.

Listen, I’m as scarred as any Essendon supporter who has lived through the last 20 years but seriously, Fremantle?

They are as innocuous a club as is possible. I’d love someone to tell me what their main weapons are. Contested ball, fast movement, inside 50 scoring efficiency??. They simply don’t seem to have any real strength so it’s hardly surprising that they are hovering around the 10-14 mark.

This is one of those team defining games that will help frank our improvement this year. It’s a game we should win and now need to go out and do exactly that. Methodically, professionally and with a real sense of purpose.

Of course we can also lose and perhaps in previous years a wounded Fremantle would have dined out on our brittle mentality and non existent game plan. Not this year I say. No, this year we are made of sterner stuff and I expect us to prevail in a dour, tight battle.

It’s not who you play but when you play them.

Teams can play well one week, terrible the next and then play well the week after. We don’t know which version of Freo we are playing.

Anything below our best puts us at risk if they bring their good form.

Went back and listened to Longmuir’s presser.

  • Darcy likely to play.
  • Frederick was a last minute call. Maybe could have played against GWS but they were being cautious. So you’d think he’ll play against us.

Did mention they would look at WAFL players pushing for selection as options.

The Fremantle game on Easter Sunday last year was the absolute final nail in the coffin of any hope we had in the 2022 season.

Some will say Geelong in Round 1 but the Fremantle game at Marvel was horrific.

We have the capacity to return the favour this year. I hope we actually do it.

If you’re as scarred as anyone from the last 20 years as you proclaim, you’d know it’s weeks like this, where supporters say exactly what you have, is when peak essington generally rolls out.

it’s when people start acting like cocky arrogant carlton suppoters that the footy gods send a timely reminder as to why supporters shouldn’t get to ahead of themselves.

i hope you’re right, but geez when will people learn to just not tempt fate …

Our forward line was struggling at that point. Least we have a number of avenues this time

Had a quick look at the stats.
Only 41 entries for us (versus 53).
Beaten in Clearances, Contested Possessions, Uncontested Possessions & Tackles.

It will be the easiest game we will play in the next month of footy

All teams except Saints have lost after the bye.

Saints played against Swans coming off a bye.

But therein lies the point and I’m sorry you don’t see it. This is not 2022 and Brad Scott is not Ben Rutten. I don’t consider it tempting fate but rather correctly assessing the evidence in front of our eyes.

Essington lost to WCE over there in the unlosable game in 2022

In 2023 Essendon, missing 5 key players discards of West Coast by 50

Essington would have lost the games to Richmond and North

I think you need to watch our games a little closer and trust in the system.

Inside 50 differential is such a misleading stat.
