Ugh. No. Not really. But, let’s try for positives.
It’s nice to feel this passionate about a match again. I feel like I had to emotionally disconnect during the Saga years - and I think tonight I might have finally reconnected. It’s the Bombers again.
We weren’t outplayed. We ballsed up the end of the game by not continuing to take the game on, but we sure as hell weren’t outplayed. For all the talk about the ladder before the game - this was still a game between last years wooden spooners vs last years runner up.
Clearances were better (without looking at the stats) I think.
Franklin didn’t kick a goal.
Hurley.
Tippa, Fantasia, Green had 10 shots on goal between them. On another night, that will bag us more than 3.
Howlett was better than he has been.
Ugh. Fark this. I can’t do it. I need some catharsis or whatever it’s called:
Stuff Sydney, Stuff Brendan Floggard for arrogantly taking the kick in and trying to be “The Man” - he stuffs up one a week on average. Let Hurley do it. You go to the fall of the ball where you do better work. Stuff Fantasia for kicking 1.4. Stuff Bruce and his “they won it Duck, they won it”. Stuff the cushion that was on my floor and is now who knows where. Stuff all our players for going from running hard and fast and kicking 7 in a row to slow stoppage footy in the last 5 minutes. Stuff Gary Rohan and his stupid ugly face and hair. Stuff Bluddy Franklin. Stuff the umpires for just being generally bad - to both sides. Stuff my missus for getting annoyed at me for getting annoyed at the footy. And stuff supporters of other clubs - especially Richmond “This is how we feel all the time.” Good. I hope you feel that way for another 30 years.
Great game until the last couple of mins. We have so much upside- the swans are done. Down here we’d be all over them and run them off the park. The SCG is a cauldron and I thought they’d take the game out but we really showed something and despite being killed in the contested stuff at times we persisted.
Great games by Hurls, Hartley, Belly, Zach, Zaka and Trav for mine.
So many others worked their way into the game when down like Tippa, Conor and even Smack which was pleasing.
I hope we really bring out A game next week cause we need the win and it is a danger game in my view.
Yep - there were a couple of times Kennedy was simply standing at the feet of the ruckmen & we didn’t even bother to have a player next to him - monumentally stupid & frustrating to watch. I don’t care if Bird ran over Woosha’s cat, he has to play, we are the weakest midfield group in the competition & we refuse to play a guy who last year was our second highest clearance player & best tackler.
Our backline was pretty damn good tonight, our forward line not at their best and our midfield…wow, can it get worse and yet somehow still keep us in it?
There might be an understated message from the fragmented trauma of a home and away defeat against Sydney, on their patch…and it may not be noticed tonight in the emotion…
BUT, we may actually be quite a good team.
Probably the most optimistic I’ve been from a list perspective in a long time.
That last three minutes I saw many players including Tippa, Connor and others just straight give up on even applying pressure to a Sydney player with the ball, thought the game was won. Won’t do that again.
meh, at the end of the day, or season this will be yet another game to look back on and say we should of/could of won it and either be in finals or in a better position.
There’s obviously something going very well cos they aren’t getting flogged by any team and they are up to their eyeballs with a chance to win in every game bar the adelaide one.
but they keep making too many bad decisions and disposals. You can blame goddard and rightly so and he should be ■■■■■■■ dropped for that, but he’s not the only one out there who just make way too many fundamental mistakes. you just can’t expect to win games doing it every week.
There’s so much potential there, but ■■■■ those mistakes are just going to make it wasted for yet another season.
