The 2022 Cricket Thread officially here

Yeah I doubt it will be Bayliss. To me it will either be Gillespie or McDonald.

They have been drip feeding him as one of the leading candidate in quite a few articles I’ve read the last few weeks up to this point. His appointment would be as bewildering to me as you but there may be a player relationship there. Maybe @Aceman knows more on that.

Odd that we’d turf out our Ashes winning coach for a failed England coach. Odder than England may then seek out the same successful coach who we turfed out for being successful against them!

Something isnt right at CA.

 I think we can all easily agree on that one!

Mel Jones and Greg Rowell are ex players, the rest are just a bunch of corporates.

I know nothing about these types of things.

I do remember Rod Marsh making a ham fist of it so who knows what makes the best committee, but to me it looks like money first with a mild bit of tokenism thrown in.

Just spoke to my mate about McDonald. He’s thinks he wants the job. McDonald gets on really well with Cummins and Finch is his best mate.

No ranga has ever coached Australia.

This is a break through for Anglo-ranga relations.

:joy: :joy:

Well that’s it then. Clearly every coaching decision should be based on who is the captain’s best mate.

I didn’t know that thnx

so langer is essentially gone because a group of players dont like him (mainly warner, whos approaching the end). is that the deal? because its a dangerous and slippery slope when you’re giving players that much power and rope to play with imo

The cricket writers at one newspaper have been suggesting that JL was on v.shaky ground for months and were obviously privy to well-placed source/s. There’s been an unchanging theme of player dissatisfaction with his style and despite the World Cup and Ashes outcome and the supposed recalibration by JL it was all too late- the die was cast. I’m not sure if I’m entirely comfortable with that as a way to remove our national coach but there you have it.

It wasn’t just Warner. I believe Khawaja was the first to speak up and call out the coach for poor leadership and Cummins has not been a great supporter.

The unhinged kook has left the building, thank god. 4 years of that bloke must of been intolerable for players and staff.

Why was he allegedly offered a 2 year contract if there was so much dissatisfaction? Was it because no one else was available?

It was the majority of players + staff. The only ones rooting for him I believe were the WA contingent, according to Malcolm Conn.

To force him into quitting. They also removed several key responsibilities from his portfolio. It was a offer that they knew he would never accept

Pretty much. The feedback from players on the whole wasn’t great and some who shall remain nameless for now have been a bit petty over a few things IMO

Then i hope it blows up in their faces and they fail miserably. seems like a lot of the hose leading the cart, and from some of the players mentioned in here, cummins is about the only one who would have a valid leg to stand on (unless i missed some others).

It’s clear the players performed better once Langer was less involved. Decision makes sense to me.
