Used to see them doing regular Saturday arvo gigs at the Pier in Frankston before they hit the big time. Funny farker was Brian. One track, long discarded I suspect, was ‘Best Looking Catholic in the Factory’. Did an awesome version of The Radiators ‘She Gives Me Head’ too.
They did ‘Best Looking Guy ‘ & ‘Pakistan’
Hey baby! Groovy man!
saw Pseudo Echo at Brunswick Ballroom last night. SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!! They did the Love An Adventure album plus a few extras. Brian’s voice was terrific, the music was awesome (KEYTAR FTW!), and I was reminded yet again why I have difficulty remembering people’s names when i meet them… some of those songs, I hadn’t heard in 40 odd years, yet the words came straight back to me… my brain obviously only has so much storage space
Not a Syndrum in sight! WTF???
I don’t think he was actually in the band very long, but Tony Lugton’s son was in my year at high school.
Jesus… I helped Tony Lugton lug his keyboard out to his car when they were on Countdown.
He was only with them for the 1st album. They’re basically Brian Canham and hired hands these days.
went to see Hans Zimmer on Tuesday night. People might not know his name, but fair chance they’d know some of his music - he’s done a heap of movie scores, including Dune, Interstellar, Gladiator, Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean and Last Samurai.
Pretty sensational concert! Impressive instrument set up, including four sets of drums, lots of strings, some back up local orchestra musicians. A few of them would jump between instruments or do some of the vocals as well. One guy did a heap of different wind instruments, including one that he’d made out of pipe purchased from Home Depot!
bit of the wank factor at times with the instrument playing, but seems to be the standard thing nowadays!
The woman who did the vocals for Gladiator in the original score is an Aussie, Lisa Gerrard, and she was there as well.
Hans had lots of interaction with the audience, and walked through at floor level at one point. Very personable bloke!
Had a cool thing at the start where there was a camera on stage looking back out into the audience, so of course a heap of us had fun waving and seeing ourselves on the big screen
Wish I’d been able to go again last night! Will definitely head along again next time he tours.
From Dead Can Dance!
One of the best live shows you’ll ever see
The outdoor concert in Alice Springs could be kind of cool, I don’t usually like outdoor shows.
@Doggatron might be interested in this
Very very interested.
Castlemain gig could be the go for me. Haven’t seen them in a few years.
Great gig from wonderful You Am I at the always horrible Metro Fremantle last night. Place was packed and the band was on fire. Special credit to the guitar tech who must be the busiest guy in the land!
Just got myself a ticket to see Russell Morris in Perth in August on his farewell national tour. Always puts on a great show, and sad to hear he’s hanging up his guitar…
I’d love to go to that festival. Absolute mission to get there though. Its not actually in Alice.
Its in the middle of the desert.
Anyone else seeing Beth Gibbons from Portishead in a few weeks?
Extremely expensive, but at Hamer Hall she will sound incredible. One of my favourite voices of all time.
Was there tonight. Great fun
Did anyone make it to the Punters last night for the free Living End show?
