The concert and gig thread

I don’t do Arena shows.

But it’s hard to pass up an opportunity for AC/DC. I know it’s not what we all want, without Malcom. But it’s probably the last chance to go see them

Sat in the virtual que for 2 hours. It was torturous. Hopefully I never have to do that again for a gig.

Let there be rock

If they got their singer back I’d think about it.

Yeah I haven’t listened to any of their albums after 1980.

But I don’t really take much interest in vocals. It’s more about the guitar and the band for me.

It’s hard to replace the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time, in Malcom Young. But we’ll see.

Brian is on vocals

Exactly.

Yeah it’s easy to see Angus and Bon out front, but when you actually listen, rhythm section is unmatched.

It’s like going to see Iggy Pop without Ron Asheton on guitar.

It’s just not right.

A very good stretch for a cover band, I’ll agree.

Reporter: How do you respond to the allegation you’ve done nothing more than release the same album 17 times?

Angus Young: Nah, bullshiit… it’s been 18.

I saw them in Melbourne on their Black Ice tour in 2010. They were getting pretty long in the tooth even then but still managed to put on a great show.

. I mean they have been still an entertaining band without Australia’s greatest frontman.

Even if 45 plus years later it’s still all his stuff that’s the best stuff.

Yeah, look, I acknowledge that they do a job and do it well. They bring people happiness and that’s fine by me.

There’s just a huge gap in both depth and quality of lyrics between Bon and Brian.

I didn’t much care for JD Fortune either, for the same reason.

Well yeah. Their last great album was back in black and half the songs were rumoured to be Bons, even if he didn’t get credited.

But Brian is the perfect frontman to honour the Young boys.

I do think Angus might need to finally call it a day before it calls it for him.

That wasn’t Mal’s style though and I don’t think it’s his.

Luckily they don’t play many songs after that album.

I first saw them in 88.

I’ve got upfront GA for Melb and Syd.

I know it’s not going to be the greatest performance of all time but with friends it’s going to be a great night and a great sing along.

You Am I at Chelsea Heights. Should be another blast! Their gig at the Forum back in April was top notch. Couldn’t resist another helping.

Great gig! All the hits and a few extras for good measure, including an Eagles cover, Bowie cover and (I think) a Baby Animals cover. Edit: SetlistFM has ‘Waste of Time’ as ‘Favourite Waste of Time , a Bette Midler cover!? Apologies for my ignorance in this one. Stood on the rail Andy Kent side. Snagged a setlist. Glorious!

Caught Blue Rodeo last night on their 40th anniversary tour. 2 hours of greatest hits- impressive. Not sure how popular, ( if at all) they were in Oz at their peak, but over here they are top shelf. Great gig, and they still sound like the albums- no note cheating/ revisionist arrangements.
For the Aussies that don’t know of 'em, imagine if The Beatles turned into a country rock band around the Help/Rubber Soul era.
