I’ll second that
How good are You Am I?
There’s been plenty of “rock” bands come out of the nineties in Australia, but few if any have maintained the originality and ethos as well as these blokes.
Tim is an absolute role model, which is why I’m still up at 1:30 working…
Cool to see Trigger Finger getting a run, some good songs on that record.
Thanks for the You Am I reviews; they are here at my local Perth pub (The Carine) soonish. Cannot wait.
My first gig as well. Awesome concert with my tram back to Wattle Park being smashed up and seats being thrown out the windows. What a night.
Mid Youth Crisis gig moved from Stay Gold to The Corner, to increase capacity.
Get absolutely farked.
Seems the my hit more fans than they had ages ago.
I think a lot of folk from other cities (bar Sydney who have a show) are keen, so the demand for more tix would be there, judging by social media.
What’s the best gig guide source these days? I’m heading over next month and wanna see what’s on.
They are good. Except my one stand out memory of You am I was them playing at my uni at the end of the 90s.
They were all hammered drunk and absolutely shithouse.
Since then I’ve enjoyed them recorded and caught them playing the odd festival professionally. So I’m sure it wasn’t a regular thing.
Frustratingly I find you have to follow all the bands and venues on Instagram and keep an eye on things.
However for the upcoming weekend, in Melbourne there is an Instagramer called ‘Sticky Carpets’
Tim definitely returned to that mode post his break up with a briefly prominent Australian artist from the mid 2010s.
I remember him playing a small gig in an Adelaide pub to help launch a mate’s album. Git two songs in, fell over his amp, snapped the neck off his guitar and literally crawled through the crowd ti the toilets weeping.
It was at once pathetically sad and heroically rock and /or roll.
Cheers, I’ll take a look
I’m seeing Touché Amoré tonight at 170. As someone who sees quite a few gigs, I have not actually been to this venue for a very long time.
These guys were incredible at New Bloom Festival a couple of years ago, so very excited to see them again.
Freaky timing, I was just singing “I Want Your Love” to my kids last night when something one of them said triggered a flashback to that song.
Yeah, I saw that. It’s really just her (don’t think any of the other anonymous originals are involved).
She’s wasn’t that good in the first place (can say that having met her…) and now… well, let’s say I don’t think she’d want to stand too close to a naked flame for fear of melting…
other anonymous originals
Harsh on Dave Parsons. He had a very interesting career
.
And google says he is actually back with the band for the tour.

Got Hilltop tickets.
This is me, now. All you other old buggers, and I know you’re old buggers, going to suburban punk thingies, and I’m going to Rod Laver to see the safest Aussie act since Air Supply, congratulating myself that I’ve got GA instead of a seat.
And I’m fine with that.
At least it’s not ACDC.
