The concert and gig thread

I’m still tempted, but have snoozed on it and don’t know if there’s tickets still available.

A Weezer show is a serious gamble. If they focus on their first 2-4 albums, it could be a cracker. Everything thereafter has been so patchy, you could equally end up with a show dotted with dreck like We’re All On Drugs, anything off Raditude (especially Can’t Stop Partying and I’m Your Daddy), Hurley, Pacific Daydream or the Black Album, or even the interminable covers they’ve elected to do in recent years.

I could be seriously wrong, but I’m inclined to save my dough and listen to those mighty first few albums instead.

Gurge playing before them helped get me over the line.

And stop trying to kill my buzz Bakes!

There’s every chance they could be the better bet on the night…

This is their most recent setlist, which may or may not be an indication… Weezer Concert Setlist at Oceans Calling 2023 on October 1, 2023 | setlist.fm

They really do refuse to play anything off Pinkerton, don’t they?

Hmmm… a real mixed bag that is. You’d want to get better than that… plenty of opportunities to head for a piiss, grab a drink at the bar or duck out for a cheeky dart there…

The couple before that look a bit more promising. Lot’s of Blue and Green, and even 1 off Pinkerton.

I don’t know if this site has ruined gigs for me or not. But I have been using it to see if a band with a big catalogue is gonna play what I want to hear.

The stats for 2023 indicate the set list will be

Now see, that is a Weezer set I’d pay to see. Gets a bit ropey two-thirds of the way through the main set, then recovers with the last two songs of the encore.

The only time I’ve ever checked what a band has been playing is a few months back when I was deciding if I would see Weezer

I needed to see something amazing to get me over the line but decided not to take the plunge.

Got a Descendents ticket instead. Tomorrow night in Osaka!

Are any US or Oz based Blitzers heading to Indio, CA this weekend for PowerTrip?

Really not sure which night I’d prefer there.
I’m thinking 3-1-2, but it’s tight.

Love it! Would be great to see a punk band with a Japanese crowd, and just because I’m short…

I’ll be at the Forum on the 18th. Not sure what to expect. Just on my bucket list, so will be fun.

On my way now. No idea how big the venue is, but we get lucky here with about a quarter of the crowd you might get in Melbourne. Apparently Milo is killing it now his artery has been unclogged.

Yeah, dudes here are short, it’s rad.

Just ran into a mate who’s on his way to see Earthless.

Yeah, I’m heading to that.

The Models next week and Huxton Creepers/Ups & Downs at The Corner this weekend… quite the Indie Aus rock of the 80’s revisited couple of weeks for me!

Then I’ll go a little further back to the late 70’s seeing The Victims in December…
