Will be interesting. I was watching it all day yesterday and remember one of the Indian commentators talking about the 2004 test that was similar.
Sunni K was captain and told his spinners to bowl flatter because a few boundaries in a small chase are crucial
We fell 13 runs short chasing 116
3rd test pitch in India day 1.
India has put together another wonderful day 7 pitch for day one.
Will it last 2 days???
Those cracks are almost as large as the legendary WACA pitch cracks.
So this is what the ICC should be reviewing and acting on ……
Maybe act on the poor / inconsistent umpires and the doctored pitches
Just come out and BAZBALL the target in 6 overs. Don’t give them a sniff
Can finish it off with 13 x 6s
Yeh, lets sweep our way to victory.
Wait a moment …
Which seamer with Starc/Cummins are we taking to the Ashes? Boland or Hazlewood?
Fark that, I want to see us win it with 76x singles.
Just play tippy-go for two hours
fixed
All 4 will be in the squad for sure.
The default will be Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood but I’m sure Boland will get a run throughout the series.
All of the above?
My grandmother and his grandmother were cousins, although they were raised together in the same household, so they thought of themselves as sisters. I guess that makes him a third cousin or somesuch, but I’ve never actually met him. I’ll claim it though, especially when he takes an 8fer.
Disagree. Video umpire should always umpire the entirety of that delivery.
As an aside, in that mentioned scenario, the bat-pad catch needs to be checked for an LBW review, as it supersedes LBW as a form of dismissal - so even if pad first and LBW, if it subsequently clips bat/glove and is caught, the correct dismissal is caught out.
This whole fracas about stumping to get a free review is all on the umpires
If they give the stumping not out, like they should be doing, then you force the bowling side to decide if they want to burn a review
Putting the onus on players to call for reviews and restricting how many they have is a ridiculous rule.
I have no interest whatsoever in the reality that Roger Federer was the worst ever reviewer in tennis. I just want to know who plays the best tennis, or in this case, cricket.
If umpire errors can be fixed by technology then that is fine, but the onus for review needs to be 100% on the umpires informed by technology.
BTW, what are the odds of an Indian victory today?
That’s the way to win it, work it around for singles. No big hero shots.
That will all change when Australia bats today.
You can get anywhere from 8-1 to 11-1 depending on the site.
Easy! Which one is from NSW?
India fell 50 runs short of setting a competitive total IMO. The critical moment of yesterday’s play was the Steve Smith catch to dismiss Pujara; what an outstanding reflex catch. Had Pujara and Patel been able to bat out the day then India would be firmly in front and pushing the advantage.
It will be a high pressure environment which will be quite challenging but if the openers can blunt the attack and put on even 30 runs for the first wicket, then the game is Australia’s.
