The Cricket Thread (part 6) - from July 2023 (Bartholemew Frinton-Smythe, Humphrey Wigbert-Porter, and Quinten Breckenridge)

Hmmmm.
Field size: straight boundaries 68 meters & square ones aren’t more than 56 meters.

India scored 385 in their last ODI here.
They look like doing better than that tonight, but still.

There are a lot of holes in our line-up.

Head is a big loss. Labuschagne and Smith in the same team does not fill me with any confidence.

Green looks lost.

Maxwell yet to be seen.

Carey has been ordinary for a while now.

Where is Agar? We need two spinners in India, and Short isn’t one of 'em.

We might make the semis, but that will be it.

Agar is back home in Australia on paternity leave. And he’d also hurt his calf before that in SA. Unfortunately in recent times he’s been autumn leaves like. I agree, he’d be in my XI over there for sure. He’s generally very hard to get a hold of and gets through his 10 overs without too much expense.

You’re right, so many doubts right now over both individuals and the actual makeup of the team and squad.

The only thing worse than being an Aussie in the field at the moment is being the Indian opener back in the sheds.

1-210 after 30.0

We still doubling the score at the 30 over mark (with wickets in hand) to get a good guide of score? Or do we do that at the 32 over mark now as some commentators have been doing of late?

The bamboozler really wanted that one.
Fantastic knock, it has to be said.

Lol.
And he’ll keep going, thanks to this stupid, stupid rule.

That is honestly the most stupid rule in cricket. It needs to be re-written right now. Enough is enough. That is a catch in anyone’s language.

Yep. No complaints about the decision.
But the rule itself is absolute bollocks.

lol.
Better check this one, too.

Yep the rule is an absolute dog’s turd

Have they actually changed the rules on that in the past 12 months? Because I’m pretty sure that would have been ruled a catch in the past 20 years.

It’s not as recent as twelve months, I don’t think.
Maybe three or four years?

Another great knock.
They just put up an amazing stat: deliveries that beat him 3%. Deliveries he left 0%.
That’s some confidence.

Greens bowling really isn’t suited to ODIs.

Pretty desperate review.

Carey puts his skates on!
Nice catch.

Edit: Reeeeeeally nice catch, to have the awareness so early.

Looked closer but still missing.

Jeez not convinced anything was behind the line there.

Was a quick decision.

Green three sixes in a row.

And now four in a row.
