Jaiswal with another 50
then has a rush of blood and gets out stumped

Bashir gets his man finally, but is still expensive. Jaiswal looked in good touch, but went for the big shot once too often. Good work by Foakes to effect the stumping.

Well this is our first series lost since they took overs.Compared to before that we won 1 out of 17 tests.

And you clearly hate Carey, this has been shown many times

Oh nonsense …….if I say I don’t then I don’t. You don’t get to tell me what I think …that’s just silly Robbo

So India gave that bunny they had coming in at no.4 the Chaminda, eh?

Rightfully so…

Tough day for the Poms. India 1/135 in response to 218 all out.

All 11 wickets lost to spin. Anderson and Wood have bowled 7 overs so far. Wood’s 3 overs went for 21!

Just having some fun banter

Me too

Ben Stokes has obviously done a bloody good job as England captain since taking over, but he’s had a shocker over there in India. Six scores of 15 or below (in nine innings), no bowling and some of his on-field decisions have gifted India the ascendancy.

England were never gonna win in India, although they have played some good cricket during the series. Their task was made impossible when you consider Stokes’ non-contribution, that Root and Pope have made one good score apiece during the series and that Bairstow’s top score in nine innings is 38. Foakes has had an almost series with the bat (seven scores between 13 and 47), but at least he’s contributed well with the gloves. Crawley, also their leading run-scorer in the Ashes, has been far and away their best batter.

No argument with anything you said

I never expected us to win the series, I’m ecstatic that we won one test tbh.

We have been very competitive at times, but India are just too damn good

We have pretty much had no contribution from our middle order.pope had one great innings and nothing else. Ditto Root.

Stokes not bowling wrecks our team balance. He should be good to go come our next test series

I’m really interested to see the changes he makes to the team come our next series( which I expect there will be a few)

The biggest plus for me this series has been Crawley continuing his really good form and our young inexperienced spinners performing so far beyond expectations.

Doesn’t he have a degenerative knee?

Australia win the toss and will bowl.

No changes to the Australian XI, Ben Sears comes into the NZ XI for Will O’Rourke.

Aussies with a guard of honour for chumpire Erasmus, nice touch.
The pitch looks like another green top.

Very early, but it doesn’t look particularly threatening out there. I wonder whether we’ve made the right call to send them in.

Too early to tell. Aerial view of the ground shows 1 tiny grandstand, most people sitting on grassy mounds which make up more than 80% of the perimeter. The ground in India for their current test is in a really picturesque setting, it just looks beautiful.

I agree looks like a very good wicket ….so far

Looks like Pat protected the fragile top order by bowling first to me.

Bowling first is always a risk ……you can easily hand the initiative to the opposition if you don’t get early wickets

He’s simply looked at the wicket, seen its green and thought ā€œI’ll have some of thatā€! Rarely does that wicket play badly. Looks like that all the time. Probably a lack of experience in terms of its his first tour of NZ.

No demons here, it looks very benign.
