Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot. At the vet hospital now with the little one beside me, snoozing. Waiting to see the vet right now.

We have seen the vet and it was the worst possible news. She has an aggressive cancerous growth where her stomach joins her bowel. As a result she has lost her appetite and anything she can eat, she can’t keep down. She almost passed away in my arms on Wednesday afternoon when we arrived at the vet hospital. My wife is completely devastated and it is only my experience with losing other dogs that kept me able to function and drive the 120 km home. The vet staff were wonderful throughout. Anyway Kuti is home and resting without pain. She knows her time is coming. We will take things day by day, but l won’t let her suffer. We will do what is best for her, it is only a matter of time.

So sorry to hear CJ, sending love and hugs to you both and of course to Kuti as well

Kuti was put to sleep last night at about 10.30. True to my word l didn’t let her suffer. I knew she couldn’t go on when she was unable to keep down even her medication. Her breathing had become laboured and she was in discomfort. We took her to an emergency vet hospital which carried out the procedure, while my wife held her in her arms and l looked into her eyes. She passed knowing that she was loved and we were loved in return. Thanks to all who have responded.

I have had many wonderful dogs over my lifetime, their passing never gets any easier. If anything this time around it is even more painful. She was so small and delicate and delighted everyone who met her. Then, to be taken by cancer is hard to comprehend and accept.

Sorry to hear your bad news CJ. Doesn’t matter how many dogs you have had, it is always tough when they go and you just have to remember the joy they brought you when they were with you.

I do remember the joy, fondly. Not just the joy that Kuti brought us, but all the other dogs l have had. I find it hard to even walk past a dog in the street, without stopping to give it a pat or a scratch, (with the owner’s permission).

I’m so sorry to hear about your beautiful Kuti. :broken_heart::rainbow: But aren’t we so much kinder to our animal family than we are to humans. I’m like you (and so was my sister @loyalandproud) as I always speak to dogs I encounter in the street. I sometimes walk away knowing the dog’s name and not the owners!!!

That’s sad news, CJ. I’m glad your pup went to sleep knowing she was loved.

My lab and I know the Irish Wolfhound’s name that lives across the road from us and we always have a chat with her but we don’t know the name of her owners.
