Doesn’t sound great HAP. Fingers crossed she recovers fully and quickly.
All the best for Pepper. Sounds like she has had a rough trot. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about you mums dog.
We had a similar situation with our dog 18months ago. She had a large lump appear at the front of her back leg. It was a tumor and the vets managed to remove it.
The tumor however was pretty aggressive and the vets warned it would probably grow back inside 12 months.
If it was to grow back the only real option would be to amputate the leg as the size of the wound left after removal would be to large to stitch and unlikely to heal without infection.
Luckily for us it hasn’t grown back yet. If it came back and amputation was only option I’m not sure I’d put here throw that adjustment so late in her life ( she’s a Ridgeback and nearly 12 years old).
All the best to Pepper, hope she gets through her ordeal.
Please keep us informed.
That seriously sucks HAP.
Best of luck to Pepper, and all the HAPs
Sounds like me.
She’s slightly better today, after having IV fluids, plasma and Vitamin K. Still can’t stand, still not eating, but she’s lifting up her head & we got a little tail wag when we went to visit.
This sucks.
So sorry to hear about Pepper @Henry_s_Angry_Pills .
Thinking of you & hoping for the best possible outcome. Keep us posted.
That’s actually a really good sign.
When you say she’s not eating… is that what the vet is saying? If so perhaps take a little treat in and see if she’ll take it from you. A few strips of chicken breast maybe.
Fingers, toes and everything crossed for your girl. XO
Our Oscar wouldn’t eat when he was at the vets for liver failure. But we discovered he would eat if I hand fed him. So twice a day to the vets to feed him shredded roast chicken breast. Maybe give that a go.
Have you got me on ignore… again😇
We tried as well.
She’ll lick a spoon of wet food (she never gets wet food, so it’s a super special treat), that’s about all.
That’s at least something
A bit hard to post this with a few in here not having a good time with their dogs. We lost our black lab a couple of years ago and my kids lost a dog that my dad passed onto them, so late last year we decided to get a couple of ring-ins.
Took awhile but finally got two ordered with separate breeders, our male was to come last Nov, and the female for the kids was ready to pick up last weekend but the lockdown meant that we collected her yesterday.
Unfortunately ours wasn’t in the litter we expected and when we got the call to let us know that we could pick him up in a couple of weeks the price had gone up by $2K so we will look elsewhere.
Anyway this is one day in after arriving at her new home, just after eating lunch.
Her new friend hasn’t quite come to grips with her yet and wasn’t impressed when she pinched his bed last night, but I think he is slowly coming around although this photo shows how impressed he is with her at the moment.
Always, always post the good stuff.
Yep - this is both the happiest and saddest thread on Blitz.
i thought that was my dog munta
“The price had gone up by $2K.” What breed of dog was that ? You can still get a good pedigree Lab for $1,500.00 total. EDIT: Not any more !
Your little girl is beautiful. She reminds me of the way my two looked when we got them, seven years ago. Black labs are the best, even with the six-monthly moult.
Perc, it took us a bit to find two. Seems that everyone wants a dog at the moment but we got one from someone who I know from work who breeds them and the other from another fairly local breeder. Don’t know why we didn’t get ours in Nov as promised but as I said when she recently contacted us she put her price up $2K for a black male lab.
If you know of any going, would appreciate it. You had mentioned earlier the two breeders you got your pair from and they didn’t have any going before we thought we found ours.
This girl and her mother seem to have a great temperament and she will make a great pet. Ideally I would like one that will get out and about and come more from a hunting stock and you are right black labs are great and she has already made the beagle less fussy about his tea and eating it in one sitting.
