Congratulations she is a beautiful girl.
Good looking dog. Cross-breed ? The curly fur says standard poodle, but the body shape says labrador. The white mark on the chest is interesting: it’s about the only colour variation allowed on a black lab. Congratulations.
Congrats @Klawdy - a beauty!!
Our Macy is now nearly 11 weeks old and has settled in well after nearly three weeks home. She’s bright as a button, so managed to work out the dog-door by the third day at home. Bed-time has now become a routine she has accepted, where she settles in her corner of the laundry and no longer whines, safe in the knowledge we’ll be there again in the morning.
If I get up by 6, I can catch her before she has an accident. Any later, she can’t manage to hold any longer. During the day she’s fine when on tiles and floorboards, so we’re not far away in that regard (although we’re not quite game to leave her unattended on carpets yet… even with her using the dog-door, she still seems to equate carpets/mats to grass…)
She’s growing quickly and I can’t wait till she gets her 12-13 week shots and we can get out and see the big wide world.
On the downside, she is a little biting machine of course… when she’s in that mood you really need your wits about you. I’ve copped an unintentional nose-piercing, and have several scrapes down one arm. Cheeky little monkey…
I love this thread
Me too… everyone here shares the same special love for dogs. They are such wonderful creatures.
they are nippers. always good to have strong skin but we couldn’t do without them. mine when he was young would run to the lambs and think they were other dogs and want to play with them
Mine is also. Aussie Labradoodle.
The breeder explained to me that, as much as its to do with them teething, it’s also that puppies use their mouths as we do hands. As children we explore the world with our hands - touching, feeling, patting - whereas puppies do it with their mouths, inconveniently overlooking the fact that they have increasingly sharp gnashers in there…
its soo good to have them though. the rams a lot happier that he has grown up as he doesn’t use their bellys as a trampoline when they lie down for a snooze
That’s a glorious photo…
I can’t decide if pooch’s look is proud or dastardly (maybe a bit of both…)
“You won’t be watching tv now… we can go for a walk. “
This is always the hardest part. Mrs. K. had a sleep deprived meltdown this morning. It’s bloody hard getting through the whimpering and whining stage.
Those teeth are like needles. My daughter is terrified when he gets in one of those moods.
Make earplugs her friend! It’s the only way…
As with babies (as you’d no doubt be very familiar…) you can’t break the routine otherwise you’re buggered…
After the first night - which was REALLY hard-going - we figured if we put her to bed really, really tired she wouldn’t whimper.
It worked for a few nights - she only whimpered briefly a handful of times during the night - but she soon caught-on. After that she trained herself to become wide awake the minute we gently scooped her up to transfer her to the laundry, which led to whimpering at bedtime again.
As it does, it gradually grew less and less, and she’s fine now. She only stirs in the morning when Little Miss Baakkeerrrr starts pounding around upstairs (her bedroom is right above the laundry…)
Finally went back through a lot of posts. How’s Ziggy going? What’s he weighing in at currently and how’s his temperament?
20kg - will be his final weight, I reckon.
He’s a beautiful dog.
Very, very intelligent. Good with all other dogs. My cat Casper’s best friend. Not a gobbleguts. Loves water. No shedding.
He’s an Aussie Labradoodle, so his lineage is all A. Labradoodles (not labrador/poodle).
Love the photo @Deckham. It’s fantastic that they’re best mates. He certainly is a looker & so nice to hear that his temperament is just perfect. Interesting to hear the difference between th A Labradoodles & simply crossing the breeds. It’s obviously a great new breed.
They are quite different. Probably best to just look it up - there’s a lot of info online. Breed began about 30 years ago. They have springer spaniel and Irish water dog in their lineage. Though they are mostly poodle.
