Nah, it’s paradise.
Where on the SC?
I have relatives in Wurtulla. Been there a number of times during the summer period, much to my discomfort.
Think I will regress to my hippie years and move to Nimbin.
We are at the base of the hinterland…great for motorbike rides, green and beautiful and about 25min from the beach…not far from the Big Pineapple.
What is Pelican Waters area like ?
Is there massive high rise like Gold Coast?
No…it’s a fairly new area south of Caloundra opposite Bribie Island. Lots of canals and waterfront properties. Nice spot and not too far from Brissie.
Not far to drive up the mountain to Maleny and Montville area- popular weekend spots- similar to Olinda & Macedon style.
The whole coast area from Noosa to Caloundra is really lovely- Mooloolaba is probably the busiest spot with a number of high rise buildings (but much lower key than the GC).
You’re half an hour or so from anywhere here- & the airport is getting a major upgrade.
Just don’t try to get to Brisbane in a hurry if there is an accident on the highway!
Too true!
Just left today after 2 weeks on the GC. A real mixed bag of weather to start with but picked up the longer we stayed. Did rain heavily overnight and this morning with more forecast but I’m not there so who cares!!
The ocean water is sitting around 25 degrees, it’s magnificent.
G’day GC bombers, any recommended places around Burleigh to watch Dons v Dees?
You could try the Sports Bar at the Burleigh Heads Hotel but it’s small
Or the Sports Bar at the Burleigh Town Hotel (AKA Burleigh Tavern)
It is indeed, sunny and clear today. But the mornings will be colder next week.
No Worries
Just wanted to add Burleigh Tavern definitely has it on. Starts at 7:30.

Forgot about this thread. Should have posted back in May when it happened, but have to give a belated shout out to Blues on Broadbeach. Was an awesome 4-day event with heaps of cracking bands at more than a dozen outdoor and indoor stages, the vast majority of which were free (take note Bluesfest). Probably the best thing that ever happened on the GC.
AFL is booming on the Coast. Todays GC Bulleting gives a good overview of the games great strides and growth. Expansion into this region is reaping dividends and will prove a terrific long term investment for the code.
My mates and I always figured once Gold Coast established itself as a club, it would be a real destination club. Just the thought of being drafted or traded as a youngster to have the opportunity to be paid big $$$ to go live on the Gold Coast for a decade or so. Or even spend the last few years of your career enjoying warm winters. Be hard to pass up.
