Wear a hat and you’ll be fine.
I also live on the Gold Coast.
I think it’s a cultural wasteland of botox, shopping malls, hookers and fake boobs. Not to mention skyscrapers and schoolies.
I rented a unit to a lovely nanny. Turns out she was a hooker! (ok that was my fault for not doing my research…and it wouldn’t have mattered if she was quiet and a good neighbour). now a druglord who is in and out of jail has moved into the same building.
To sum up, the Gold Coast sucks.
Ewok this is the Glorious Gold Coast thread not the Gold Coast is a shithole thread.
Its a cultural wasteland because its where spivs go to retire and bogans to holiday.
But i do love a cold one at a gold coast surf club after a swim at the beach any time of the year.
Its cant be the worst place to live in Australia. Burleigh/Miami go alright as a bit trendy to visit.
Australia needs a Cav Av somewhere in the country.
Well, as they say it’s rare to find a flawless diamond but this is the positivity that reflects the shining facets of the Glorious GC.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. I’m sure someone famous wrote that.
Also lived in Brisbane. Bit of a shithole. Summer is sweaty. Winter weather is amazing.
A good mate lives on the GC but Its been a decade since l’ve ventured there as always try and holiday somewhere outside A/a these days, but skimming through that nightlife video l was expecting to see someone king hit at any moment. Looks like an absolute s#$thole to go out.
This + meth is how I see the Goldy.
Agreed, but I’d call Melbourne a bit of a shithole too these days.
One of my good mates lives in the gold coast and thinks it’s the greatest place in the world to live, but he is from western sydney, so i dunno if he is a good judge.
Has the footy scene really exploded up there recently or is that all bs? It makes it more appealing if there is a good footy culture there.
It’s owned by Asahi, it’s doing fine.
whenever i’m on the gold coast i cheer myself up by thinking “at least i’m not in fkng sydney”
I think the grassroots is strong, I see more youngsters are playing than at any time in the past. I think rugby league is wallowing.
Aussie rules has definitely grown (very much AFL branded, to my digust)
Yeah, bought out by CUB/Asahi but still a boutique offering
also that nightlife video above is only identifiable because of the title. its completely indiscernible from newcastle, perth and geelong
Yer balter is in many pubs in australia @Nexta
You should get out more.
Gold Coasts social scene is breakfast. Thats it. After exercise.
Least thats what a good mate of mine tells me who lives there.
And yeah the night life is skanky. But it just needs more diversity more music
this is an excellent thread by the way
