The Glorious Gold Coast

I’m not a great Burleigh Heads fan. To me it’s full of fake people. People who’ve had heaps of work done to themselves, pushing prams whilst pulling a trendy dog at the same time. Fakery to me. South of that area is certainly more like years past but even Palm Beach is changing quickly now.

Where were you staying with the work trip?

Issue presently is they’re building the light rail stage 3 to Burleigh so the GC Hwy is a mess. Once that’s done it will be better. Traffic is becoming a big problem however given the rise in population.

I don’t think the coastline is an issue to get swallowed up. The cyclone created a lot of erosion that’s still impacting the northern areas. However, we had cyclones in 1954 and 1974 and they created much more problems than Alfred earlier this year.

Yeah I do remember when there was a bit of bikie character to the nightlife

They got rid of that now, and replaced it with absolutely nothing.

Newsflash…there’s a gazillion dead fish in the sea

Well, yeah. But the bigger issue isn’t about swimming with them.

A fabulous super moon this evening.

The Hot Chicks Thread lasted a lot longer than an hour. The photos got progressively raunchier, until they went over the line.

Sorry about that, I am more mature now.

I guess people who live on the Goldie aren’t fussed how tall buildings are going to be.

I think reality is that going up, and not out is the priority for the council here. Residents of Palm Beach obviously frustrated but it was inevitable. They should thankful there’s been an avalanche of new towers of ~8-16 floors, this is better than 40+ floors!

They’ve green lit a 101 floor tower in Southport, the city’s CBD area. Starts build next year.

Issue for the city clearly is how will they get the population around the coast given issues with lack of road networks and transport.

I’ve never been disappointed picking up takeaway from Chevron Island Seafoods.

Charis Seafood in Labrador is great but a bit of travel.

Otherwise, Miami Fish Market in Miami is terrific too. I know the family and it’s always been highly regarded. It’s next to Miami Marketa which is worth visiting in itself.

Hey @magicalcharlie Sorry, reply came a bit late.

I also recommend here for seafood. Closed now, but if you can get down there tomorrow, well worth the trip:

but it is at Burleigh, so a bit far from where you are…

They’re well behaved and it’s well organised these days. Thankfully!

Sounds like hell on earth, whereby 16 lane roads would still not solve the traffic problem.

Who the hell would want to live in a place like that?
